Well yeah...

Well, what I do is pull it up in Audacity, do a major bass boost, and then tab it out little bits at a time; is that like what you do?

Ah, I see. I put it in wavelab, hit the mono button which can sometimes lower the guitars and pass it through a parametric eq and cut/boost whatever helps me hear the bass a bit better.

Then i tab it out bit by bit.

Ah. That probably works a lot better. I should try that.
