Ok... if you don't know, Useful Idiot exists for you to tune your ears to a different listening level, so that when 46&2 begins, you are able to focus in more to the whispering of Mr. Keenan.

I've done my best to understand exactly what he is saying, but it's still difficult to work out. This is what I have so far though.

Take My, Take My Shadow (something: Will You?)
Take (Let?) Me Know my shadow

Thats the first time... The second time...

Take me Take me shadow (shallow vessel?)
Take me closer to meet him.

Has anyone else been able to get a better understanding of the lyrics?

I try and I try with my equalizer, but I still can't grasp the words with certainty.
(0:22)

Take my, take my shadow (Quiet Quiet 4 syllables)
Thank you for my shadow

The 2nd part is easy(2:30)

Take my, take my shadow will you
Shall move closer to meet him

Why I concede to this programming is something best described through L.Ron Hubbard's dianetics.

"1 self reality"

Okay you guys, i'm almost positive this is what Maynard says... "Join in my, Join in my child (and) listen... Digging through, my old numb shadow" that's sounds about right listen close and you can hear it...

i think it goes:
join in my, join in my shadow
shadow moves closer to me
but im listening to a live version right now so he might have varied the words a bit.

yea, i noticed that in the live verion he does change the words, cuz i have 3 diferent live verions and he's says what it sounds like your saying, but it's different from the cd...

well... I was listening to the song a couple days ago. I managed to discern that on the CD, first whisper, he's saying

"Take my, Take my shallow misery"

i have always heard it as:

join in my child
jjoin in my child and listen
i've been digging through my old numb shadow

join in my
join in my child
[???]
my shadow moves closer to the mirror

--i kind of wonder if mjk is the mirror throughout the album--
