I dont know, theres something about this song that gives the whole album a mysterious feel and that you just need to know more. i mean all the other songs are great but somehow there just too straight forward. with rosetta stoned its different. i mean the time of it 11:11 also very strange, i dont think that was just a coincidence either
i dont know i could just pulling this out of my butt, opinions would be great.....

I agree.. Especially when you figure out what the hell Maynard is singing.. YES, very mysterious. Isn't that why we all like Tool. (Partly) Plus stories of LSD trips are always interesting.

The original tracklisting had Rosetta Stoned at the end before Viginti Tres.

The Part where Maynard comes in with

"Overwhelmed as one would be, when placed in my position
Such a heavy burden now to be.. the one
Born to bare and read you all the details of our ending
To write it down for all the world to see
But I forgot my pen."

Gives me the chills everytime I hear it.
Rosetta is one of tools best.

Yeah, i'm happy most of you agree with me, Rosetta Stoned hold 10000 days together no dought. Maynard has very cleverly gave us song that we can still dwell and think about.

Yeah I completely agree. Rosetta Stoned is the backbone of this album.

I think a better place for Rosetta Stoned would be the closer of the album, ala Third Eye. It seems like it's a great way to close album.

Rosetta Stoned is just plain genius
After spinning this track several times, I do believe that this could be the best song ever recorded by tool. I hear something different every time I play it. Instant classic.

The song gets better everytime i hear it, it kind of puts me in a different place, the way a couple of songs on Aenema do, it is always evolving

Actually, after a few listens, I am more excited when Wings for Marie and 10,000 Days come on, but all three are excellent songs. I think I will understand Rosetta more if I'm stoned (hence the title).

i dont know if your taking the piss but i don't this song has any thing to do with being stoned. More of a story Maynard has conjured up from the dwellings of his genius mind. What it means is still mysterious and a song that is going to keep people guessing and talking which is exactly what tool want.........

So true.....absolutely awesome. To be honest this and 10K days are the only ones that I keep re-listening to. Although, when Aenima came out I had a new favorite every other day so whatever.

Rosetta is so friggin' awesome when you figure out the lyrics (I'm thinking I've figured it out). Wow. And yes the final verse where it's all epic is good. Like....PUshit good.

Personally I find Rosetta Stoned to be one of the more "expendable" songs on the album.

Not to say I don't like it--I do. I would just put it behind 4-5 of the other tracks in terms of significance.

rosetta is like third eye with a bit more of a silly under tone. i too would have liked it to be the closer it just doesn't flow into intension like it seems to me it should. i would rather be left brethless by it than have to try to understand the rest of the album after it's over. now i prepare to be crucified for calling tool silly. do your worst bastards.

I believe Rosetta Stoned could be one among the best tool songs over the years .This song has 33 complex rhythm & key changes (Yes I counted it )...this is just an awesome song ...those who don't /can't like it ...should try listening to it again ...noticing the changes & evolution of the song.

I find it hard to beleive that in ten years time this song will be receieved so poorly. This song will age like DOW Vintage Porto, whatever that is. As far as a personal prediction, LK/Rosetta Stoned will become one of my most valued Tool tracks. And a live version? Whhhpphhhffffff... it'll become the new live Third Eye. A feat indeed.

The song is incredible, kind of like a giant lollypop laced with crack. Every time I listen to it I want to listen to it more.

Its a 2000 vintage porto. Don't ask me how the year 2000 C.E. is vintage??? haha maybe Maynard can answer that one.

Third Eye+Fiaap de Oiad+Ticks&Leeches=Rosetta Stoned

This is by far one of my favorite Tool songs. That line

"Born to bare and read you all the details of our ending
To write it down for all the world to see
But I forgot my pen"

Just kills me every time I hear it. It just sums it all up.

IMO, that's my favorite part of any Tool song that I've ever heard.

Not so much for substance, but Maynard's voice is just unbelievable at that point. It just makes you want to hear an entire song in that tone.

I had not really listened to this song much until today, and when I came across that part again I was like goddamn that's incredible.

Perhaps the most satisfied that I've ever been with a clip of music in my life.

However, I don't think that this is the best song on the album. It definitely makes it better, but every actual song on this album is really good, with 4-5 of the songs being instant Tool classics.

This is starting to become my favorite Tool album. It's not nearly as deep and complex as say AENIMA or Lateralus, but in terms of just really good progressive rock music and sound this is one of the best albums that I've ever heard.
