same. for a while i was saying Ænima but the more I think about it, I change my mind. When I think about Tool and what I really like about them, I think Undertow. It's definitely my favorite Tool record.

I cannot decide which album is my favorite. It often literally changes on a day-to-day basis.

there's something to be said about undertow... I've been listening to it lately, and it stands out. there's nothing like it. i love it. flood is a candidate for best song.

wow, tool has changed so much since undertow.

Tool practically reinvents themselths with every album, so I have no favorites.

History will never see the likes of another Undertow. it is amazing to think that this is a band's second album! they have reached musical maturity in their gender, according to me! the following albums are an exploration, a pioneering into unknown musical realms... with an amazing effort! Undertow to me, reppresents the uncontaminated, pure original plan A tool! all that follows is the result of consequenciality, or evolution if you will: the band changes, so does the music. It has been a wonderful change though, contributed to defining their personality!

I'm torn between Lateralus and Undertow.

For me, it's a tie between Aenima and Lateralus. Undertow's good, but I've always found it as a bit under developed, seeing as how they were still finding their sound at the time of its release.

Aenima > Undertow > 10,000 Days > Lateralus > Opiate

Lateralus to me is no where near the crowning achievement for Tool. The music was extremely progressive, but the thing I like most about Tool--its frontman--is not really highlighted on Lateralus; at least not for me he's not. I know others are entitled to their own opinions, but in my mind Maynard was at his best during Aenima. Danny is at his best on 10,000 Days, Adam on Aenima, and Justin on 10,000 Days. Lateralus gets close for Danny on Ticks and Leeches, but overall Danny is better now. That's why I can't put Lateralus up at the top. For me all he elements were at their best during different time periods. I respect all opinions though and understand why many loved Lateralus the most.

I definitely gotta go with Aenima on this one. Undertow is great, Lateralus is better, but Aenima just grabs a hold of me and never lets me go. Start to finish.

Opiate's an EP, not an album.

Opiate's an EP, not an album.

Shut up, yes it is an album. Go look up the definition of "album" and Opiate meets the criteria to be labeled as such.

Anyway, I just came here to post in support of Undertow. While I think most of the songs off Lateralus are Tools most sophisticated work, Undertow is the backbone of Tool. Essential.
