Going off an idea expressed in Lateralus' "Reflection"
"So crucify the ego, before it's far too late
To leave behind this place so negative and blind and cynical,
And you will come to find that we are all one mind
Capable of all that's imagined and all conceivable.
Just let the light touch you"
10,000 days makes a lot of references to things being divided/seperated, coming together again, and the sun. One idea in philosopy is that the sun is the ultimate source of knowledge, or the ulitmate truth. Perhaps something that is just out of reach, but shines onto the earth giving life.
As in "Jambi"
"Shine on forever
Shine on benevolent sun
Shine down upon the broken
Shine on 'til the two become one"
Anyway what does this have to do with the album artwork?
You're using a tool (the stereoscopic lense), to take two 2D images, and to see one 3D image. Maybe to see how things can look if the division is taken away.
