NO don't cross your eyes!!! god... the opposite, you must stare straight ahead like you are looking at something far away!!

Refer to my post about the glasses and clearing stuff up "stereoscopic"

man, its like those pics from the mid 90s that you stare at and cross your eyes to see...remember in mallrats "a sailboat is a scooner"?
so, put the glasses to your face, slowly cross your eyes, and then uncross them slowly, the two pictures will become one and then you can move your eyes around and check it out...

i suggest starting on the one with the metal poles spiraling out of the skeleton guy...

also, once you get it locked in, flip the page real quick and you'll still be locked in!

This is the same guy who says he got in an accident with the glasses. AND can't figure out what to look at, considering the instructions are printed in the book. AND ripped out his book.

If this is a real person he needs beat.

It's actually like those pics from the 1890's, called Stereographs. See the wiki article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stereograph

My mom had an antique shop with boxes full of old stereograph cards and had some of the viewers.

The things you're talking about are called "autostereographs" because they don't require apparatus to view - but you are correct, they are very similar.

BTW: a more modern version of the sterograph is the ViewMaster - it used two pictures and a pair of viewing lenses as well. And the other poster is right, whether its a stereograph or an autosterograph, you do *not* want to cross your eyes, but rather focus off into the distance, causing them to orient parallel instead of converging.

Did anybody actually pay attention to the picture in the booklet that has a picture of how to use the glasses? The same page as the close up of the jars. Sheesh.

Edit: except Briznitch. I checked every other post before posting this and didn't see anyone mention it, someone I skipped that post.

Right, a stereograph - read my post above.
