If you have a little bit of patience, you can get your eyes to focus to the point that the "dual" photos will appear in 3D as you look through the lenses.

It takes a bit of patience and lots of practice, but the effect is killer.

is it possible to gain the same effect by placing the same picture side by side?

i've tried to gain the same effect by doing just that and have been unable to create a 3d image

the pictures must be from different angles i believe

try to start about 8 inches from the glasses, and slowly come into them, (looking at the pic the whole time) should be easier

Didn't take me too long maybe a minute to figure out to put my eyes very close to the lenses and just relax my eyes..
