this song is about human evolution obviously,

on this theme, the electronic drums come in at a specific time (4:44)

maybe to signify some sort of evolution in the song itself

if i'm not mistaken, there is some sort of connection between 444 and synchronicity

I don't know if Tool would take the time to do that on purpose, I personally view it as coincedence. Nice insight though.

coinscedence my right foot! These guys study their music inside and outside. All of them know what comes in when and time it so in times like this to make a point. MJK did say this is more of a movie than a regular album. Its deep...very fucking deep. Like sholder past the borderline deep.

That IS interesting. That could put all of the Viginiti Tres crap people have been trying to come up with into perspective, and that maybe synchronization is part of delving deeper into the album.

"Sa-turn a-scends
Choose one or ten
Hang on or be
Hum-bled a-gain"

"Sa-turn a-scends
Comes round a-gain"

"Sa-turn a-scends
The one, the ten
Ig-nor-ant to
The da-mage done"

;)

Ok, well, we all know that The Grudge is about transmutation and turning things that might seem like negative sinto positives, letting go of what holds us back, and it all goes back to synchronicity and balance (yes, once again). In using the author of this thread's "4:44" idea and how it has meaning regarding evolution and synchronicity, I realized that the "chorus", if you will, for The Grudge has the syllables broken into sets of 4 for each line, as I pointed out in my post above. This is consistent with the idea that both songs are about our evolution both as a species and as individuals in a spiritual sense as well.

i checked the song, and the drumming actually comes in at 4:43, just barely. kind of ruins the theory, which was a good one by the way. the digits do add up to 11, so perhaps the timing still has significance, just not in that way.
