Here are some little unusual ingredients I've found in this layered beast of a song...

3:04 - 3:22
Listening to it with headphones at a decent volume... can hear some sort of chiming in the background... very faint.

6:59 and 7:02 - Sounds like a dog bark in the background!
7:04 - Another little background sound... a voice?
7:09 - At the end of Adam's ascending guitar lick, a little 'oooh!' or 'wooo!' sound.

Any thoughts?

The only thing close to chiming I can hear in 3:04-3:22 is Danny's ride cymbal.

I can't hear anything else you are talking about either... sorry, for the lame post, but I tried listening.

Are you listening to the CD or a rip of the CD?

There's a glassy reverberation of some kind from 3:04-3:22, in the background.
It's not a rip, this is the CD.

hmm.. the 3:04 - 3:22 i do hear the chiming but it sounds like a keyboard or a synthesizer just turned way the eff down (or the effect they used on the intro to eulogy, whatever it may be), because its the correct note and the volume swells and then gets cut off and then starts again, and it actually continues up until about 3:45. and as far as the rest...i dont hear 'em. sorry.

I'm thinking most people won't hear the other noises because they might seem part of the music, but for me they really stand out. They could be just the sound of Adam's fingers rubbing the frets as he slides to the next chord or something.

I'm glad someone knows what I'm talking about with the chimes though! I didn't realise it kept going though. I was thinking it might just be Carey's ride bell reverberating. Like they recorded the sound of it ringing, then just looped it for a while.
