10,000 days is roughly 27 years. I am led to assume from the lyrics that this song is about Maynard's mother, whose middle name was "Marie". Apparently she was afflicted with a dibilitating disease which affected her for the rest of her life, or 27 years. From these lyrics, it sounds like she never lost faith, instead she stood as a "pillar of faith", an example for those around her. This is a beautiful song about a son's love and admiration for his mother. I have almost come to tears listening to this song and its second part. I hope that I may get the chance to hear it with nothing between Maynard's vocal chords and my ears but a microphone and a sound rig.
