Well it seems next month Salival will be back at the stores, new and fresh, to destroy all the ebay opportunists. http://www.play.com/Music/CD/4-/1001186/Salival/Product.html

Believable?

Windir

Whoa. I would so buy it if it would be available here.
But, I hardly believe this is true. No word from Tool about it yet.

I'm actually the high bidder on a copy right now and I'm kinda hoping I get outbid so I can just pick this up. ahaha.

The selfish part of me's hoping it doesn't get released. That's because I'm one who bought it on eBay ($120AU...very cheap for Salival) and I'd just feel ripped off I guess, plus it instantly takes the attachment value down for the few people fortunate to have a rare, out of print Tool release.

Although, it is a small piece of history that should be available to every Tool fan LEGALLY. But at the moment it's just not affordable.

Whats "incl bonus dvd"? I thought the box set was just a dvd and a bit of art. Is it saying that the box includes another dvd?, or am I being a pillock?

http://www.play.com/Music/CD/4-/1001186/Salival/Product.html

Due for release 15/5/06

hooray for backronyms. it originally stood for video, rather than versatile. versatile is stupid, so in my mind they're just "DVD".

Why is "versatile" stupid?

DVDs are not used only for video, so "Digital Video Disc" is pretty stupid if you ask me.

Because DVDs are versatile.

Ps: omgz, is this Tool's real new album on HMV? omfgzzz

Versatile is stupid because its obvious that they just needed something more appropriate than "digital video disc" that still used those same letters. ANY digital format is versatile, and a lot of them are discs. Its just a dumb name.

DVD is a cool name though. Just forget about it standing for anything. DVD! yay.

Shoot. Not distortiononline. The Tool Hotline. My bad.

Classic Tool records to be rereleased?

According to the U.K.'s Play.com, Aenima, Undertow, Lateralus, Opiate, and even Salival are due to be rereleased on May 15.

They're available for preorder for reasonable prices, so go get 'em if you wish. Let us know if these pop up on any other websites.

I question the validity of this. But I sure hope it's true. I didn't really get into Tool until like 2002, when Salival was alread $100+. And I just can't afford that. And then last summer when Amazon had it for only $26.99 for like two weeks, I was dead broke and couldn't get it.

It'd be cool if it was, I need the DVD version (I have the VHS set), but at the same time part of Salival's appeal lies in it being such a rare thing for us Tool fans to acquire, so I have mixed feelings about it, if it is in fact even true.

I think the best compromise would be to release it in dumbed down packaging, like a regular jewel case. That way people that bought it originally will still have something special, but newbies will get the content.

Ditto. I have the VHS set also and I bought it for quite small amount of money. I think I paid like $80 for it, which isnt that much if you'd ask me. Original packaging, no scratches, no nothing. Like it's new... and I'm planning on keeping it that way.

I agree that, if this is going to be re-released, it should be done in normal jewel case and not in the collectorsbox like the original ones. That would be so fuck'd up... I hardly doubt it. But yeah... it would be a great oppertunity for people to get an original version of Salival.

As you all probably guessed, Salival is still no longer available at all. After purchasing it on HMV.co.uk on monday, I soon found that it was "on special order with suppliers" this basically mean that they didn't have it in stock and probably where never going to have it in stock. Then HMV.co.uk removed Salival from thier database altogether and so...our chances of getting Salival and now basically...FUCKED!

Jb Hi-fi in Australia did that around the time Lateralus was out as well. They actually advertised it (Salival) in their catalogues, image of the box and all. Of course, none of the stores had it and offered to take a deposit to put it on order- even though it is out of print and you'd think they'd know this.

And this year they did the "shortage of 10k Days CDs, pre-order now!!!" bullshit.

I've contacted several sources about this re-release, and I have it on good authority that it's due on the 19th of June 2006 (in the UK). I have been given this date by two different sources, one of them being PLAY.COM when I rang them. They told me that the date of release on the website is so because the don't have a definite date, therefore the web page cannot be finalised. So...... I guess we'll just have to see

Hope i've been of some help.
