As the guitar plays it's clean picking in the intro with it's spacey delay, what is that weird high-pitched harmonic thing in the back bending notes? Is that Justin with massive whammy like on Disposition?

Cuz if it is, its beautiful.

saw this, felt it was a good place for my first post. Yes. It's justin. I'm pretty sure he using all harmonics, and acutaly bending them. Also hes got a bunch of effects: tremlo, chorus slight delay and he might be using his wammy pedal. When i herd this i pretty much pooped my pants.

im not sure i know for sure what youre talking about

but if youre thinking of the part im thinking of it sounds like bass harmonics with an octaver and vibrato/tremolo

could possibly even be harp harmonics, which i have never heard played on a bass but i imagine it would sound like that

I immediately thought it was bass harmonics and whammy. And listening to it again, I'm 99% certain it is, since the note goes up and down in exactly an octave interval. If I had a bass, I'd figure out how to play it, but I've only got a guitar and a whammy pedal...

thats harmonics softly plucked on the maybe 12th bass fret? and a roto vibe pedal for sure.

No, it isn´t Warr.

It´s Justin, with a whammy and perhaps some other pedals.

what are you guys calling a whammy

whammy to me = bar to release or add tremolo tension

dunno what you guys are talkin about

harmonics, possibly harp harmonics, tremo/vibrato, reverb/chorus, and octaver will reproduce the sound (yes, i tried it)

Justin is playing harmonics on the 5th fret of his high D & G strings. Does have a tremelo effect on there and also is using is digitech bass whammy pedal (which the bass model no longer manufactured... need to have some luck on ebay to find one these days). Think he has the harmonizer setting for the bass whammy on the 5th (down) to 6th (up) for the creepy bending noises...
