Mandated lyrics:

[0:24]

Here from the king’s mountain view
Here from the wild dream come true

[0:34]

Feast like a sultan, I do
On treasures and flesh never few

[0:44]

But I
I would
Wish it
All, away
If I
Though I’d
Lose you
Just one day

[1:13]

The devil and his has me down
In love with the dark side I’d found

[1:23]

Dabble and all the way down
Up to my neck soon to drown

[1:33]

But you changed that all for me
Lifted me up turn me round

[1:43]

So I
I
I
I

[1:53]

I would
I would
I would
Wish
This
All
Ah-way

[2:13]

Pray/ed like a martyr/father does/dusk to dawn
Beg like a hooker all night long

[2:23]

Shout to the devil with my song
And got what I wanted all along

[2:33]

But I
And I would
If I could
I would

[2:45]

Wish it away
Wish it away
Wish it all away
Wanna wish it all away
No pressure could hold sway
Or just a fine line
Kneeling away, my sinner

[3:30]

So if I could I’d wish it all away
If I thought tomorrow, it’d/they’d take you away

[3:13]

You’re my piece of mind, my own
I said I’m just trying to hold on
One more day

[3:22]

Damn/Dim my life/eyes
Damn/Dim my eyes

[3:32]

Damn/Dim my eyes, well/if they should compromise
All hope from what you need to find me
Then I might as well be gone

[5:37]

Shine on forever
Shine on benevolent sun/son

[5:47]

Shine down upon the broken
Shine on ‘til the two become one

[5:57]

Shine on forever
Shine on benevolent sun/son

[6:07]

Shine down upon the sever/ed
Shine on ‘til the two become one

[6:17]

Divide, I’m withering way
Divide, I wither way

[6:27]

Shine down upon the many, light our way
Benevolent sun/son

[6:47]

Breathe in union
Breathe in union
Breathe in union
Breathe in union
Breathe in union
So as one/survive
Honor the/survive another day and season

[7:07]

Silently, just say your poison
Silently, just stay out of my way

Compiling all the edited lyrics, I think we can safely say that this version could be moved to the lyrics page of TOOLShed when 10,000 Days hits the shelves.

WHAT THE HELL DOES THE WORD JAMBI HAVE TO DO WITH THE SONG?????
The lyrics all make sense ( I think it is about his son), but the word Jambi is a province/capital in Africa! Is Maynards son half African???????????

It's probably his son's nickname. Who'd wanna be called Devo anyway?

Jam Bye Eye

Yeah, I hear it, too.

Also there's the word "salvation" around the 3:32 mark.

Jam Bye Eye
Before I read the lyrics here I thought it was "jam" or "jab" my eyes. But "damn" or "dim" also works so I don't know.

If Jambi is pronounced "Jambye", then "Jambi Eye" would make sense.

Try Indonesia, not Africa. Maybe Maynard would use Jambi the Genie to wish things away if he needed.

Dabble and all the way down..........

Sounds more like "Dabbling all the way down" to me, but maybe I'm overanalyzing.

I hear

Silence legion, save your poison
Silence legion, stay out of my way

And for some reason it fits perfectly with wings/10,000...at leats I feel it's a funeral and he is asking what he should be saying to "these ghouls". He hates the congregation (legion) and would want to be left alone. But then again I have no proof of this, just a coincidence.

also I hear "damn my eyes" and it makes sense with the "if they should compromise" line. Jambi eyes does not make much sense to me, but of course once again, could be. It also could be dim and make sense.

EDIT: the first one could be "dim my eyes" but the second is "Jambi eyes", pretty sure of it now. So they are probably all Jambi eyes.

it's deffinatly "dabblin' all the way down"
"dabble and all the way down" doesn't make any sense to me.

If indeed he is saying "Silence Legion save your poison", it could well be a reference to the name of the demon that Jesus expels from the demoniac in the bible.

Jambi eyes = what Maynard sings.
stop lying to the people, mcroggles!

mcroggles is one of those names you just yell while shaking your fists.. "MCROGGLLLLLLES!!!!!!!!"

that's what i'm doing at you.

I think it's worth emphasizing here the changing of "piece" to the proper usage, "peace," for inclusion in the official (until, if ever, they're released) lyrics.

That was great. I can now justify visiting this page.

Silence legion, save your poison
Silence legion, stay out of my way

I feel pretty strongly that this is the line. All my other lyrics speculations are just speculations, but I'm pretty certain on this one (as certain as any of us can be anyway).

I agree with 'a reflection' though, Legion - in this context - is a reference to the biblical demon of the same name - 'We are legion, for we are many'. In a somewhat generic western judeo-christian sense, demons whisper in our ears and poison our spirituality. I believe MJK is using 'legion' as a word for 'demon' here, basically telling the demons to fuck off.

I could be wrong, I'll always concede that - but I'm pretty sure that's how the lines read.

i think that chorus lyric is CLEARLY just the word "JAM-BI".

pronounced with "jam-bye."

i'll throw these onto tdn/Lyrics, with some other thoughts attached.

Hmmm, well you may want to listen to it again, because it is very clear that there is an "s" at the end of whatever lyric he is singing. With headphones on I think it becomes a little more clear. What exactly is he saying? I'm not positive, but it's plural! Dim/Damn my eyes is as close as we will come until official lyrics are handed out.

I'm also going to throw my vote in for "Silent legion, save your poison. Silent legion, stay out of my way."

"Shine down upon the sever/ed
Shine on ‘til the two become one

[6:17]

Divide, I’m withering way
Divide, I wither way"

I'll also say that he definitely says "severed." "Sever" just doesn't make sense, and you can hear the "ed." You can also hear the "ed" when he says "Divided, I'm withering away... etc".

Those are my suggestions anyways. The rest sounds pretty damn good.

The lyrics all make sense ( I think it is about his son), but the word Jambi is a province/capital in Africa! Is Maynards son half African???????????

the point of view of the (Jambian?) king/sultan and the description of a feast, are symbolic of maynards life as lead singer of 2 bands

and im pretty sure he says "dabblin all the way down" (swamp song-ish lyrics)

i also think he says "Divided and withering away"

and "jam my eyes" which would make sence if you remember his reference to the "kings mountain view" which i see as a representation of maynards level of sucess thus far. so if he is saying that if tomorrow would mean him losing his son he would give everything up to avoid that...so jaming your fingers into your eyes in an attempt to blot it all out would make sence in the metaphoric sence.

In my opinion, he's saying "Pray in union"

I'm trying to hear the "Breathe" but all I hear is "Pray", and the last time he says it I am 99% sure it's "Pray"

Could be wrong though...anyone else hear it this way?

i'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet, i tried to read through this thread to see, but around the 3:15ish mark i hear:

you’re my piece of mind, my own/home, my saturn
just try to hold on
one more day

could be entirely wrong, but saturn is mentioned in "the grudge" so why not.

anyone else hear this, or am i crazy?

does the "I would" part remind anyone else of Alice in Chains? there's a few other parts on the album that give me associations to other bands of that era as well.

"If I would, could you?" themes kinda match up too.
