and the reference he made to it being such a great track are spot on. This is one of the best examples of modern progressive music I've ever heard.

This one's a keeper, good work Tool.

It's probable that L.K. denoted both Lost Keys and Rosetta Stoned, in which case Blair would be entirely justified in describing the song as a progressive masterpiece.

i love this interlude... the background wailing noise sounds like the "creature" moaning...

the creature i refer to is the beast thats screams through the talkbox.

It's in no way "Third Eye" remixed. Although they are undoubtedly drawing upon prior compositions, their earlier work does not determine this album in the manner you're insinuating.

i like it how thrid eye is like: fuck man im trippin balls and THIS RULES HARD and shit.
but rosetta stoned is a completly diffrent perspective, it's saying: fuck i'm trippin balls way too much man, GOD DAMN, SHIT THE BED!

I almost see Rosetta Stoned as a song for all the people who are like, "Tool only makes sense when you're high, man." And people who say, "They must have been high when they wrote this!"

Also, the L.K. Blair was referring to was Wings for Marie and 10,000 Days. He said so somewhere.

Yeh it was Wings for Marie and 10k days. It used to be one song which at the time was titled L.K. but changed. They that's the piece that Adam and Danny said was their best work ever done.

I lol'ed.

But my point stands. Not everybody likes Turd Eye.
I agree that not everyone likes third eye. I happen to think it is one of the best songs on the album. I guess it is more of the music than the lyrics, but i absolutly love the 'came out to watch you play' part.

Just a thought to bring up:

In the Jan. newsletter, when Blair summoned the spirit Obelisong to give him more info on the Tool album, the spirit stated his favorite song was "LK".

Yeah...

i don't think of this song as an interlude at all, it's too emotional and good for that

blair says "obelisong must have quite a sense of humor in naming this epic track"

Yeah, i dont get why thats 'humorous' Is there something im missing about the name of this track?

abrack29

No, it's humorous because the 'epic track' USED TO BE called LK, but now LK is Lost Keys, which is anything but an epic track.

in lost keys the doctor is talking to the nurse about a patient who isnt physically hurt but has something wrong with him, maybe because he was chosen by the ET to be "the one", he is "the key", but cos he escaped or left the ET, and is lost in the hospital(they dont know his name) HE is the lost keys which the song is named after, kinda shows the guy after the events in rosetta stoned like he recalls the events. I doubt this is true but i havent posted much since joining so i thought i'd throw it out there.

oh and hey there tool fans :)

my theory is that the original title for Lost Keys/Rosetta Stoned was just Lost Keys. thats why Blair told us that there was a big epic track called L.K. but like in one of the band interviews, the band said Rosetta Stoned was one of the last titles that came up. so Blair used the summonning crap with Obelisong just to correct his supplied info telling us it wasn't the case with L.K. being the epic track, and his word problem he gave us the Rosetta Stoned word scramble thing.....craziness

John Cage didn't do shit in 4'33" and that was "progressive."

i think the LK he was referring to was originally Lost Keys and Rosetta Stoned as one. it's obviously one song, but they split it up into two tracks.

this track itself is one of the best parts of the whole album

It is in no way Third Eye remixed. Why? Because Third Eye is a mediocre song. Come on Prying open my third eye is just plain cheesy and stupid.

Rosetta Stoned is a much better song.

you could write a thesis from that lyric alone man. there happens to be alot of depth there, just like all of their work.
