Whoever is singing isn't Maynard... completely different vocal timbre... Who is it? I think the scream at the end IS Maynard however...

Perhaps a live show may make this manifest?

Someone suggested to me that it was Billy Howerdel (he sang on Peace, Love and Understanding on eMOTIVe, and began A Perfect Circle with Maynard).

its american indian chanting... so its probably authentic... like probably someone from whichever tribe does this kind of chanting. i know the screaming in the background is amusing, but for the most part, the chanting is serious....

I'm sure somehwhere someone posted an interview with Danny where he said they actually got some Native Indians in to do the chant.

I thought I read that it was indeed Maynard who done the chanting, but it sounds nothing like him.

I would say the same about the intro to The Pot. Does that sound like Maynard? I think, for better or worse, it shows his incredible range. He isn't limited to a single register. He certainly sounds better in some registers than he does in others *ahemthepotahem*, but he has incredible range.

Sounds to me like North American Indian. Then at times I think it could be Aloke Dutta with help from Maynard at :10 and throughout then with Danny coming in at :58 in the background towards the end. We shall find out on the album credits when it is released.

TA members will probably recall from Blairs post a while back about Danny's _ _ _ _. Ring a bell? I dont recall a mindblowing S O L O nor do I remember hearing a G O N G. Kinda sounds like Danny acting like in damn navajo in which this may be his S O N G. Elaborate please...

this is written in a finnish interview with MJK:

"Lipan Conjuring" is Danny's little song which he made with his friend Tom Brown. It's an Lipan-apache exorcism, kinda like a situation check and strengthening your roots. As far as i have understood the idea is before starting a task to ask yourself: "Where am I now and where am I going?". Little bit like when the hindus are praying Ganesh for advise and protection or how the buddhas say: to achieve this and this goal I have to take a breath for 10,000 times. All this is related to the theme that we are coming back to our roots and we consider this as our "rhythm& blues" album.

Yep, the new images of the liner notes say that Bill McConnell did the vocals. So it isn't Maynard.

ummm..... there were a couple songs on thirteenth step where his voice got pretty high, his has a pretty wide range but it's most deffinatley maynard.

LOmotherfuckingL your signature just made me spray a film of saliva all over my monitor...

i played this cd at school and left the room(art room) when i came back this song was on, my first response was to start bitching about someone changing the music but then my buddy tosha said "i dont know what happened to your band man but this is fucked up" like all of tools interludes(?) is see this song as a pallate cleanser of sorts...i fruit sorbet for your ear canal. it also has some medatative qualities to it i think.

Bingo. I've been thinking that for a while, but have been unable to register. Remember a month or two ago when Adam posted recording pics to his myspace site? Josh Homme was chilling out with Maynard, which places him at the scene of the crime. Plus it sounds just like him. Also, i don't think the scream is Reznor. By all accounts, he and Maynard don't get on very well. More likely it's Maynard himself.

That was my first guess as well. He's been visiting Tool in studio, so it might be him. Sounds like him, I'm convinced :)

I love how many people continue posting names in this bullshit debate after several people have already mentioned who it really is and who is given credit for it in the liner notes.

Good job, fellas.

why the flip do i keep hearing opinions of humor?

I think ROsetta Stoned and The Pot are more sarcastic and humorous.

This song is about as funny as George Bush giving head to a fallen angel for cocaine. Haha. That is kinda funny though.

But this song isn't. It is seriously about expelling evil.
