This album reminds me of The Wall in the way that it is a more personal album about the singer as opposed to lateralus which was mainly directed toward the listener. Lets hope 10,000 days wont result in the same mess that The Wall did for Floyd.

Shine on forever
Shine on benevolent song

[5:47]

Shine down upon the broken
Shine on ‘til that you become one

[5:57]

Shine on forever
Shine on benevolent song

[6:07]

Shine down upon the sicker
Shine on ‘til that you become one

Shine on you crazy diamond.

The riff is very similar to how Another Brick in the Wall (I) starts.

i hear some of this but i also hear a definite Discipline-era King Crimson influence in Jambi, particularly early on.

yea if you compare the bass line around 1:03 in the song with the beginning of pink floyd's another brick in the wall part 1, theyre almost exactly the same.....it was definitely the first thing i thought of when i heard the song

there definately is a pink floyd influence.... theres so much in this album, so much put together, that its going to take us all a long time to sift through it all. its good to be a part of this experience..

The Pink Floyd influence on this song is UNDENIABLE!

On the first listen, I heard at least 4 things:

1. The bass line sounded like Another Brick in the Wall
2. The talkbox sounded like Pigs (3 Different Ones) from Floyd's "Animals"
3. Maynard's lyrics about the "Dark Side"
4. Maynard's "Shine on" lyrics.

That's about the extent of it... I hear some Hendrix on Wings 1&2 also. Animals is Danny's favorite Floyd album too. Very cool way for them to pay homage.

Being a huge Floyd fan and having not listened to the album yet, this makes me excited.

Ok...the fact that there is a huge Pink Floyd influence is undeniable, especially if you look at the whole album. The alusion to Echoes in 10,000 Days (Wings Prt 2) as well as Rosetta Stoned is painfully obvious. Just have a look at the track listing to Animals...
1. Pigs on the Wing (Part 1)
4. Pigs on the Wing (Part 2)

As compared to
3. Wings for Marie (Part 1)
4. 10,000 Days (Wings Part 2)

As stated before, there is the "Shine on" lyrics and "Dark side" lyrics in Jambi.

BUT, just because Adam uses a talkbox doesnt mean that it is influenced by Pigs (Three Different Ones). If you think it is influenced by it, listen to Metallica - The House That Jack Built, The Eagles - Those Shoes, the Slash's guitar solo from the GnR Live DVD...and EVERY track ever that uses a talkbox.

And as for the Another Brick In The Wall (Part 1) refrence... It's just a pedaling not using a delay pedal. The opening to Eye of the Tiger is exactly the same as the Floyd track. And listen to the guitar at the start of the live version of Pushit, and Eon Blue Apocalypse. Similarity? Just cause Floyd did it, doesn't make it an influence.
