Holy God, I know have a use for my $300 Altec Lansing speakers. The bass in this song is overpowering and incredible.

i love how the rhythm of the vocals juxtaposed against the bass have that fantastic groove, yet its so brooding.

The bass line also forms a poly-rythm right after "Give me my wings..." The bass is playing in a 4/4, 2/4 time sig while the guitar line keeps steady 4/4. Thus 6 measures of 4/4 and 4 measures of 6/4 met together.

I had read that Tool was listening to Meshuggah which would explain the inclusion of such complexity in the song writing.
