and the words swirl in blood
atop salty tears
the rise of fear like smog
that never disappears

-daddy has to go away today,
he has to fight for peace you see.-
(mommy, i thought you said peace
didn’t have guns?)

and the words echo through bones
of innocent children alone
strangled with the love and moans
of a history unknown

-here sweetie, let me wipe your face,
+licks tissue+
you don’t want dad to see you cry,
i told you honey, today is the day we say good-bye.-
(but mom,
+pulls tissue from pocket, and with a shaky hand passes it over+
you better dry your face too.)

and the words are all but words
spoken with faith on a burner
sizzling sweet liberation,
the rescue of a hateful nation

(nana, nana, but when will they be back?
can they come back for my play next week?)
-honey, they have to go away for awhile.-
(but nana, i want them to stay.)
-sweetie, +holding back tears+ everything is going to be okay.

and the words choke pride
while beating hearts abide
a march to mustard gas death
the world -an emotional wreck

-honey, we are very proud of you. you are a brave boy.-
(mom, i will miss you.)
-now son, toughen up, put your game face on, just like
that championship game.-
(but dad, i’m afraid.)

and the words get sucked through the vacuum
into the atmosphere of doom
swept under the rug
with a tyrannized broom

(but mom, what happens
if you don’t come back?)
-you will live with your father, -shudders-.
(but mom, i hate him.)
-everything will be fine, have faith,
have faith, my dear.-

and the words are silently spoken in fear
terrified that the thought police might hear
shhh, if you listen real close
you can hear the falling of tears

-baby, don’t leave me now.-
(i have to, you know i have to.)
-this just shouldn’t be, let’s run away.-
(i wish it were that easy.)
-maybe i would be a little more at ease
if i had a god to pray to.-
(i know.)
-i know.-
(sigh)
-sigh-

and the words are unwritten
in the U.S. and Britain
the words before blood
the words before bombs
the words that whisper
-(stay calm...stay calm.)-

That's fantastic... damn, I'm lost. heh *catches breath* It reminds me a lot of a song my Dad used to play, "The Patriot's Dream" by Gordon Lightfoot, very similar stories.

Very well done, raiSIN. Is this from personal experiences or inspired by something/someone else?

somewhat by personal events but mostly just images playing themselves out in my head.
thinking what some loved ones of the soliders are feeling/saying/thinking...it's really sad, but it would beeven sadder if their homes were being blown to bits.
thanks by the way.

peace.
