I live about an hour and 15 mins away from the city and can easily take a bus, so I'm thinking getting there at least before 9 (I'm really paranoid) so I'll probably be on the bus no later than 8. When it comes to Tool, better safe than sorry. =P

well think about it...3,000 seats 2x....6000 tickets only 2 per person
so therefore 3000 people can buy ticks appoximately. you have to assume that so many people through the internet/phone lines will be going crazy so its going to be hard for people to get through so im gunna say not every ticket but 1800-2200 people will get ticks via phone/internet. So i would say you would have to be the at least the 400th person in line to get tickets, and even that is very questionable.
with the amount of people in NYC and people who want to see tool, i would say get there at a very reasonable hour. im hoping to get there at dawn if eveything goes according to plan

the problem with buying online is that the servers can get fucked up by the masses of people logging in....I've been screwed out of tickets online more times than I can count...going to box office and waiting feels like a safer bet.

check this... I tried, was ready to throw 20 tix on my credit card, leave them at will call even, and get reimbursed by folks here and distribute. Thing is, I'm gonna be pissed when I see ticket brokers selling these things with big inventories on eBay.

i just emaled them asking them what they thought was the best way to buy tickets and this was his response.

All tickets are priced at $66.66 and there is a limit of two tickets per order placed per performance. There are no handling fees for this performance, whether purchasing tickets at the Box Office, via phone at CityTix or over the web at www.nycitycenter.org.



There is no “best way” to purchase tickets, as the phone, Box Office, and website will have large volumes of patrons and will assumably have considerable wait times. Again, all ticket prices are the same regardless of where the tickets are purchased – there are no handling fees.

I think both shows will be in serious demand. My honest opinion is that their website will crash and there will be three people handling the phones. Even though they go on sale at 11am, I firmly believe that they won't sell out until later in the day.

It's like squeezing a million marbles through three holes. Only three can get through at a time and it'll take time to fill it up.

I think persistance on the phone and online is the way to go.

Well many of the shows are posted on ticketmaster too. So are they going on sale on City Center's website. I am so terribly confused and if I don't get tickets I'll flip out. It would suck to be beat out of tickets just because I have no clue what's going on. But waiting oustide for them would be even worse. Here's the deal... The tickets are going to be available on City Center's website and through their phones as well. They are also going to be available at the box office.

There are no tickets allocated to each medium. Tickets are first come first serve, regardless of how you get them.

So I've finally come to a decision, and have sent the waiting in line plan down the tube. If you think about it, since tickets go on sale on Saturday tons of people will probably go wait on line on friday night, since no one has to work or anything the next day. And with the length of the line, I think tickets would sell out over the phone and online before you could even get to the window.

I just swung by the venue during lunch. There are about 15-20 people sitting in chairs and set up in tents waiting on line. Some of the kids mentioned that tons of their friends and others are coming by after work and after class to wait on line.

That couple with the thunderstorms, I'll use all my jedi mind tricks to get through on the phone and internet.

I felt the same way when I walked by. There was one kid in a Tool shirt reading a book who I gave props to. He got there yesterday and was camping out. Hell, if I had the time and energy to do that I would, but realism rears her head.

As far as those scalpers go. There were about 5-6 of them looking real shady. Those are the ones that should have fish hooks shoved in their eyeballs...
