you dont wanna stay by the venue, ill tell you that much...

I wouldn't stay in downtown KCK if you unless you enjoy bullet wounds. I'd recommend you start your trip back home and drive for about 20 miles before you stay anywhere. If you're going back north, drive up to Leavenworth and stay there. To the west, go to Lawrence. Going south, stay in Overland Park or Lees Summit, depending on which way youre going.

Anybody got any info on the Memorial Hall venue they'll be playing at??? Is it a sit down, high class joint or is it a small club, typical club for touring gigs??? Also, anyone have any tips on getting a place to stay around the area other than driving out of the city to avoid getting shot.....Any info on this or whatever else would be extremely cool and appreciated. Lets keep this thread going please.

it's a smaller version of Kemper arena... think Highschool gym, only.. well.. smaller. :D

Bodhi
04-20-2006, 01:17 AM
With that in mind I'm thinking it's just like the size of the Civic Auditorium here in Omaha where they played in '02...Any smaller than that would be crazy considering that show was packed...Any more info would be appreciated, thanks.

Traitorbrain

This is awesome, I was planning on going to Denver for a show until they announced there was going to be one only 30 minutes from my house, I could pay 150 dollars for a ticket and still come out ahead moneywise compared to a trip to Denver.

Atrophy Annie
04-20-2006, 07:01 AM
i'd say the capacity is about 3000. there is the floor, which is smaller than a basketball court, a section of rows of seats in a horseshoe (some under the balcony), and then a horseshoe shaped balcony.

i saw them there in 96 and it was great. i can't believe they're playing there again!

has anyone used ticket outlets like supermarkets or record stores to buy tickets for such a high demand show? or would you recommend using ticketmaster's site?

hope to see you all at the show.

I've been in contact with Memorial Hall and they said the only way to get tickets was at Ticketmaster. Ticketmaster at Hyvee in Lawrence, KS has free wifi connection, I'll be inline and online for the tickets. Also, any idea if this is a general admission show?

Ticketmaster ONLINE... not IN line... don't fuck yourself. There are no locations selling tickets, only online and by phone.

yep

Ive called twice to just confirm this. Make sure you either call or get online. I would hate for people to go w/o because of a mixup

Also, are we going to try to do ticket sharing? Im trying to get 2 tickets. I know personally myself, my buddy, and my girlfriend are all going to be online at the time attempting to get 2 tickets (multiple people trying never hurt). If we get more than one set of two, I will be selling them here (or ToolArmy) at no extra cost.

I hope others will do this as well. Fuck scalpers. I would hate it if the diehard fans had to go w/o, or pay crazy prices. Keep this in mind when getting tickets

I AM NOT FROM THE AREA SO IF SOMEONE COULD GIVE ME SOME INFO LIKE WHEN TICKETS GO ON SALE AND HOW MUCH IS THE AVERAGE PRICE FOR THIS VENUE W/ THE CONSIDERATION THAT THIS IS THE BEST BAND EVER SO TICKETS WILL DOUBLE IN PRICE.
I HAVE ALSO HEARD THEY ARE REALLY CONTROLLING HOW MANY TICKETS YOU CAN GET AT ONE TIME. ANY INFO WOULD BE MUCH APRECIATED.

I spoke with Ticketmaster and was told that you would be able to buy at location. I'm figuring if I'm in line, online, and phone in hand chances of getting tickets are good.

lachrymotion
04-21-2006, 02:02 AM
Alright...

Other locations are doing this, so Im going to try to take charge of here...

Lets try to get some ticket sharing started. We all want to go...we all don't want to fork over cash for scalpers. I need 2 tickets, and going to attempt to get 6 (that is if 2 tickets is the limit...I will personally call ticketmaster tommorow to confirm this), I have three computers here all up and running, with someone maning each one.

If you want to be added to the list, just reply.

That is probably the worst thing you could do.

1. I dont even think they are selling then at an outlet

2. If your 2nd in line, everyone on the internet could buy all the tickets before the person in front of you pays for his tickets.

Why not just go online. It automatically updates and you just have to enter your card information. YOur problem standing in line right now like a jackass so good luck with that.

Anywhere in there is good. They call the balcony the very first row that isnt on the floor... Seriously if you get there early, you will get a good seat.

remedy4me

Get there early and stay in the lower part of the balcony and you will have a great view. The venue is small enough that the only bad seats are in the upper part of the balcony.

Best bet is to listen to the local radio stations to win tickets. I know the Buzz is still giving some away and I dunno about The Rock, I dont listen to them at all anymore.

My friend came over to my house with his laptop to score some tickets cause he has slow internet. I got on first and got 2 floor tickets for me and my dad. He refreshed right at the same time I did, but his like wouldnt load and about a minute behind me all he got was balcony. He had his dad and sister try to. His dad got 2 tickets and his sister didnt luck out.

We have 6 tickets total but 2 for me and my dad 2 for him and his dad and Im sure he already has someone else who wants the other 2.

Me and my dad seen them 5 times in one year. ONe leg of the tour they went to Omaha and then Ames. We drove up to Omaha and caught the show, which was the best Tool show I seen. That place held 10k people. Just think of memorial hall with not even 3.5k people. The next day we went tothe Ames show. Wasnt the greatest. Its venue I think was bigger than Kemper Arena which sucks ass because of the acoustics.

talk about an emotional rollercoster...

had not 3 but FOUR computer here all with friends and different cards. 11:00 AM and we get on it...we all get stuck on the processing page for what seems like an eternity. One by one, we all get "no tickets meet your requirements" or something. All go back in...GONE! Felt like I got hit in the stomach. Not 10 seconds later my ladyfriend comes in asking for the credit card number...with all the computer hysteria, I forgot she was on the phone. She saved the day...and scored us 2 GA balcony seats.

I know its almost an impossibilty, but if you do have extras remember your friends here at TDN. Im sorry I couldn't score anymore for anyone else...

I managed to get to GA balcony tickets. Personally, I think floor seats for Tool suck. I prefer to sit and watch them properly. Their music really isn't....moshable except for a few tracks on Opiate. Personally I'm psyched. Did anyone find it odd that including service charges the ticket price was 66.66 dollars? Hmm...I wonder if that was intentional.

Quick question: Since the concert is supposedly GA, does that mean regardless of where your ticket is you can go to the floor or the balcony? Just curious.

ChristianTroy

GA at Memorial Hall is split between the floor and the balcony. You have to go whichever of the two your tickets says. Floor gets wrist bands.

I got some tickets, but my friends need more. This is probably a fruitless venture, but if you have extras PM me and I'll take them.

I did a serch for kc Tool tickets and found a BUNCH of sites where I could buy one for over 200$ a pop.... that is so wrong, I have a morgage and work hard for my money I dont have 400$ for that. I wish people would stop paying these prices so that companys would stop doing this. As long as people buy them, they are not going to stop.

And if anyone can spare 2 tickets I will buy them for a resonable amount.

So I'm thinking of paying the fucking scalpers....but I'm confused about this show. I know it appears, and people are saying, that the tickets are only floor OR balcony, and that's it... but if that's the case, why are some "balc ga" tickets more than other "balc ga" tickets on the scalper sites???? I'm confused.

I've counted at least 400 tickets that are being sold on different sites, I say blaspemy...Fucking online scalpers...If anyone is in the Omaha Metro Area with extra tickets willing to sell I'm still up for buying along with the 400 other people who lucked out...

They all charge different prices. Some people will only go to one site and still pay more.

I think the reason they are listed at different prices is that the company merely provides a means for various other people to sell their tickets. Having read their FAQ (in utter disgust, which we will get to later), it seems that what they do is simply provide an online forum for other people to sell their tickets. That being said, my own personal opinion (and that's all this is) is I would rather not see the show than pay these people to rip me off on tickets. Essentially what they are doing is making their money by screwing over honest fans who just want to see someone they enjoy in a special venue. Blame capitalism, blame scalpers, blame me for not hitting the "Find Tickets" button at just the right time, but I personally will choose to miss the show before I give these leeches a single dime. They are bastardizing the work of others to make money simply because they happened to be able to get their hands on tickets, and that to me, smacks of wrong. /end rant. If any genuine ticket holders out there are unable to attend I would love to buy two tickets to this event from an honest seller, feel free to PM me if you happen to have a ticket you are unable to use.

Peace

If you are stading in front of the venue facing away from it, there is a secured lot, actually a police lot that is public at night I believe, on the street that runs by on your left hand side. It is one block down this street as if you are heading away from the venue. This is where I always used to park.

If anyone knows where to find 1 ticket please let me know. It sucks that they are doing these small venues. It's helping the scalper and a lot of the hardcore Tool fans have gotten screwed or will be getting screwed when they pay their $200+ for a ticket. They need to play 2 nights at each venue or just say screw the small venue tour. Just had to get that off my chest. If anyone knows of 1 extra ticket please help, if not enjoy the show. HyVee in Lawrence sucked ass, stupid raffle tickets. Some chick who showed up at 10:45 got first ticket drawn and I was there at 8:30 this morning. Lots of pissed off people. Luckily I brought my notebook and got online at the store, got 2 balcony tickets. See the lucky ones at the show.

This is where I got mine. I got lucky. We were like number 36 (maybe 10th in line?) or something and I didn't think were would get in. Couldn't believe all the people who kept getting in line after the raffle thing. Never thought about bringing the laptop. Good idea.

Congrats on the purchase, I didn't think anyone but the first in line got tickets. Line didn't move a bit, people in the back of the line were pretty pissed. It sucks that ticketmaster doesn't handle the lines better, alot of people showed up early Saturday morning and got hosed. Managers were being dicks too.

SO... anyone who knows this place: Are there seats on the floor? Or is it open? Looks (from diagram on TM.com) like there could be a pit in the middle w/ seats around on the "floor" and in the balcony. Don't see how they could stop everyone w/ 'floor' tix from just going in the pit...
Also, when is everyone showing up? Is there anywhere to eat/drink nearby (mostly drink) beforehand? Or is it as much an urban wasteland as I'm led to believe?
If there aren't seats on the floor, not much sense for those of us with 'floor' tix to show up 5 hours early- unless you HAVE to be one of the people getting crushed against the barrier.

Is that an open invitation? Cuz me and some friends are planning on going to the venue ticketless to see if we can't find some good samaritans who'll sell to us. So if we're left out in the cold, a party after the show would make the trip worthwhile, rather than a failed quest.

I have posted this all over TA, but if you are going to this show, we are trying to get a group together at tanners on 11th and broadway. Its only about 4 miles from the venue, and its safe and big. There will be people there starting around 4:00. Come have a drink before the show, and maybe after. I have also been telling people that waiting in line for 5 hours is a waste of time, memorial is real small, and there really isn't a bad seat in the place, might as well drink or smoke with friends, instead of standing in line. Cheers

Question for native kansas citians. How bad is the area that the hilton on Minnesota is located? I mapquested the Memorial hall and the Hilton and like the above poster stated less than a half mile away. Would this be the place you guys would recomend? if not where? Any help would be appreciated. This will be my first Tool show ever and I want it to be a great experience all around> Thanks

It's not too shabby. If someone happens upon you in the parking lot, just keep walking. The surrounding neighborhoods are section 8 low income housing and do have quite a few strange people, some dangerous, some aren't hating on anybody they don't know. Especially "crazy white folk", as we tend to be called. They're more likely to mess with a man in a suit than a person in a Tool or other rock shirt.

In short, go for the Hilton, you should be just fine.

crmsnghst
05-02-2006, 01:29 PM
P.S. Don't quote me on this, but they MAY have a parking garage at that hotel. And if you can handle East St. Louis... K.C.K. will be a walk in the park.

The scalpers will be hard to find at this show. Kansas City (Kansas as well as Missouri) has a city ordinance against scalpers. Ticket scalpers are typically asked to leave at first by the Kansas City Kansas Police Department, if they find them again they are usually arrested or slapped with a heavy fee.

In addition, with the KCK PD being just a mere block or so away from Memorial Hall, the scalpers tend to stay away. I would suggest going with EBay.

Also Crmsnghst you form the area? I wouldnt mind hooking up with some people to go out after the concert seeing as I dont know any hot spots in Kansas City.

There aren't many places in KCK that I would bother to attend. The closest hot spots are usually in Westport, but that won't help you with the girlie being under 21. Best bet would perhaps be in Johnson County, I suggest Jerry's Bait shop ( http://jerrysbaitshop.net ) Jayson Kayne will be performing that night. He is a solo acoustic act and usually busts out with some really good covers and adds his own style to it.

My girl and I are going to Atmosphere right after the Tool gig lets out. It is at the Beaumont Club in Westport. It is an all ages show, you can get tix at the door or via Ticketmaster for $17 .

(For the record, I'm not a huge Atmosphere fan. Mr. Dibbs added a nice element to this band but he is no longer touring with them. I'm more tolerable to their older stuff that includes Mr. Dibbs. But my girl loves their music along with all her friends. If you and your gal are some what tolerable to Hip-Hop, this would be what I would highly recommend. You'd get your drink on, she'd enjoy a good show. Plus it'd be nice to know that I'm not the only Tool "Tool" in the venue. I'd be more than glad to share a pitcher or two with ya.)
