Paramount box office doesn't open till noon
Ticketmaster locations are a lotto
online is a crapshoot.

I think you can only buy 4 at a time. I'll buy 4 if i can. Ill only need 2
will sell the others @ face value.
How ever this is still a LONGSHOT!!!!!!!!!!

YES. buy as many tickets as you can. then sell them @ FACE VALUE and make sure that you don't sell them to the scalpers. we can definitely outnumber the scalpers. don't let those scalpers take advantage of this. we can control our destiny.

Don't forget that when you wait in line in person there is a lotto system for the front of the line, so you can get there 3 hours early and still end up towards the back. Just give yourself time to park and get in line beofre the lotto.

unfortunately a friend of a friend type person to me has some sort of association to ticket broker folk, and mentioned a while back that there is some racket set up that certain ticket brokers are able to buy tickets thru ticketmaster before the general public...., such a bunch of shite. Usually only means they get the prime seats at big shows to sell at premium prices, but with a 3k capacity show it f#$cks the tru fans,

I am hitting this friend of a friend up for as many as they can hookup in case I dont get lucky on sat..., any xtras will try to make available at cost to the dedicated tool fans in these forums through this event thread

Live 105 just aired Vicarious and announced the show after.

They played Vicarious again around 8:30/8:45 tonight and afterwards they (again) announced the show on 5/4 - they then aired a caller who inquired about when tickets will go on sale and the DJ said Sunday at 10am through Ticketmaster. (He then repeated it.)

So I guess, Sunday, not Saturday.

Hey guys, this is my first post. I'm a total n00b on the toolshed forums. Just found out about the msg board a few days ago and now I'm addicted. I bring my laptop to class, and all i'm doing is checking this msg board. lol.

But I must say, the ticket sharing forum is awesome!! I, too, will try to buy as many as possible and offer at least 2 tickets if I can get my hands on any. =P

Yay! I'm glad we've got each other's back on this. Hopefully all the real Tool fans get into the show. I was able to get 4 tickets to the Berkeley theater show (with King Crimson) during the Lateralus tour. I sold two at face value to some cool guy I met on the Tool newsgroup. We met in Berkeley before the show and had a couple beers. Good times...

Be careful too, if you buy online, not to hit 'refresh' too often at 10 a.m. or they'll make you wait 5-10 minutes before you can try again!

edit: On one hand, doesn't the Paramount have like twice the capacity of Berkeley Community Theater? So, theoretically, it'll sell out a little slower?

OTOH, I think they limited ticket sales to 2/ea for that show. So it's a wash.

tophe07
04-19-2006, 02:27 PM
Just called and confirmed with Paramount. There will be a 2 ticket limit per person.

Also, note that you cannot order more than 2 tickets through ticketmaster using any identical information:

i.e. you can't order tickets with 1 credit card, and have your buddy order 2 with another card with your name, address, billing info, etc.

so each order of 2 tickets must be "unique"

good luck, I'm sweating balls...me and my friend will be devasted if we don't get tix

Not even an identical address only? like a credit card of another member of the family?

tophe07
04-19-2006, 02:33 PM
according to ticketmaster policy, there can be no matching info...but I don't know how strictly they will enforce this

it could just be BS to discourage people.

hard to say, even harder to get a hold of a human being over ther.

From Ticketmaster:

The venue or artist/event management will typically impose a ticket limit per customer, credit card or address in order to provide ticket access to as many fans as possible. Ticket limits vary depending on the type of event or the anticipated demand for tickets. Check the event information area of the purchase page for more information on ticket limits for your event. Please adhere to published ticket limits.

Persons who exceed the ticket limit may have any or all of their orders and tickets cancelled without notice by Ticketmaster in its discretion. This includes orders associated with the same name, email address, billing address, credit card number or other information.

Should I select the seats I want or just hit best available?

I am guessing that by the time I click "Orchestra A-P" it'll be sold out and I'll be sent back to the start - and the venue will be sold out completly. Anybody have any idea?

What time-frame am I looking at?
As far as I know "Best Available" will only earn me crap seats.

There are no crap seats in the paramount. Your best bet is definently "best available" so you get a ticket at all.

My main question is when doing so, can you call 1-2 minutes early to go through all the prompts and what not? Does it matter?

I am trying to attack this thing at four angles here. I plan to be online, of course, and simultaneously on the phone - all while my husband is going to try the rare odds of Tower's tickmaster. Hopefully at least ONE of us will get tickets. Fingers are cross.

I am so nervous about it guys! I have to stop myself from thinking "I bet they'll open with Vicarious" ( I want to hear it live), or "I hope they play pushit." I will be very disappointed, to say the least, but I am hoping for the t.d.n. ticket connection as back up.

Shite isnt looking good for us.

I tried to get tickets for PA and IL at 7 and 9. Did the refresh thing, selected two, no dice at either show....., repeated 2nd try with 1 ticket, and still no luck.

So we seem to be looking at like a 30 sec window where the general public has access to tix.

also.....,

Ticketmaster seems to be heavily cookie driven..., so I recomend having at least one or two extra browswer windows open and logged into your account. They have a little blocker setup for too many requests within a certain time period and you are locked out of their system with that browser window.., have to open a new one.

I posted ealier to find some for sale in case we didn't get any since it is our anniversary so I thought I would let people know that we no longer need them. We seem to have luck near our anniversary since we went to the small Chicago show 4 years ago on our anniversary. To all that didn't get them, don't give up yet. As much as we despise the trade of scalping tickets, scalping is a legitimate business. Scalpers have gone to great expense to set up ways to obtain tickets and then resell them at a value the public is willing to pay. It's not illegal, and depending on who you talk to it may or may not be immoral.

In Florida, ticket scapling has expressly been legislated against. I believe tickets can't be resold for more than one dollar over face value.

I bet the band scans these forums incognito. They know the scalpers are ruining the chance for many loyal fans to see them live in a dream location like the small, personal venues these shows are at. There really isnt a lot they can do about at this point. Possibly in the future they can change their method of distributing tickets and work something out where the brokers cant by so damn many.

So did Ticketmasters really have a lottery system? Just for future reference because I saw so much about only the morons would camp out. The Wherehouse I went to printed out tickets as fast as they could (got 20) and gave them to the first ten people in line that had cash (everybody did). Really sucked because I got up at 6:30 am to get the breaks done on my car (which is an amazing statment from me, noon is early on Sunday), if I knew it wasn't going to be a lotto I would have gotten there sooner.

Tool fans are willing to sell themselves for tickts. That's funny.

Anyone happened to check out the Morning Music Co-Op on Live 105 this morning? This week they are giving chances for people to win tickets to the show and this morning they aired a fan who stood on top of his car outside the station, dressed and sang like Maynard to try to get tickets to this show! It was great.

The DJs also mentioned how yesterday, a girl dared herself to eat placenta (ew) as a way to get tickets to this show. Wow.

Wonder if these folks are registered here...? I'm interested in knowing the outcome...

speaking of eating placenta, anybody ever see a family of Eskimos eat a seal?
HOLY SHIT. They eat EVERYTHING. RAW. They cut that shit open on the floor and the whole family goes to work.
If that chick was Eskimo, she should be disqualified.

*Sorry if this post offends Eskimos...but, it is true*

I am driving in from San Jose. I have never been to Oakland. I am leaving work at 5, I figure that gives me plenty of time to get lost or mugged and still make it to the show on time.

It's been mentioned before, but I totally think we should all hang out before or after the show. Lets get some organization amongst us all!

THIS is what I'm talking about.
Looking at the Paramount (not seattle's) website, there doesn't appear to be any kind of lounge/bar there. I'm from SF so I don't know anything much about downtown oakland so I don't know if there's a bar on that block.

anybody?

Yes they do serve drinks at the Paramount in Oakland. the bar is located on the level below the lobby. Be forwarned they do not take credit cards, there is no ATM in the Paramount and there is no "in's or out's". I learned the hard last week when between four of us we only had enough money to buy two beers ($5 each by the way).

Also the drink lines move very slowwwwwww. And you can't take drinks back to your seat unless it is water. They didn't even search us going into the David Gilmour concert (hint, hint for you tapers) although I'm not sure if they will be harder on us Tool fans. Someone had mentioned the lax searches about the first night of Gilmour, so knowing that I bought my own water with me. I just wish I had bought some more money for beer. The do take credit cards at the merch table just not at the bar. go figure.

I would highly recommend anyone that can take BART do so. The 19th Street station lets you off at 19th & Broadway. The Paramount is on 20th & Broadway. It's a short trip from almost any direction and it's better than parking your car in that neighborhood.

If anyone of you can please tape this show. Whether or not I end up there or not I would love a recording. During the Lateralus tour, I saw them in Berkeley at a great small venue. My friend tied his digital camera to his drawstring and dangled the camera between his legs right against his balls, he got patted up to no end and nothing was found. A hint for anyone bringing a camera or recording device.

Whoever does will enjoy the detail of the theater very much. Especially the angel on the ceiling that looks like it's flying above the stage and the lobby entrance from the inside is incredible. For those in altered and unaltered states enjoy the show.

Yeah I've smoked in there before. I saw some others doing the same. However, I was buried in the middle of a section. This time I have row AA, exposing me and putting me right out in the open. I don't think I want to get kicked out oif a show like this over smoking.

Lots of California kind being lit up the minute David Gilmour hit the stage. I haven't smoked in years but still enjoy the smell, although I did leave that night with a major contact high.

Is it even worth trying to sneak in some weed? Beside the fact that they may catch it going through security, will you be caught, definitely, while smoking??

I mean, I plan to blaze before walking in, thats not the problem. It would just be great to enjoy a blunt while they're playing.

What are your thoughts? Should I even bother with shoving blunts in my underwear?

You know what, the risks are as great as any other indoor show I suppose. I just didn't want to have to bend down and miss the show... wahh wahh wahh.

There wasn't even a search at the David Gilmour show for both nights. I walked in with a water bottle in my pocket with no problem. You potheads are way too paranoid ;-) That's half the reason I quit smoking the stuff. As soon as he hit the stage people were blazing right and left. So think what you will.

But seriously the best sounding Gilmour show I've heard from his current tour was recorded at the Paramount. Someone got some serious equipment through the doors to record it. It's a great theater, the people there were very laid back, it's a block from BART. Just remember there is no ATM in the theater and the bar doesn't take credit cards, so bring plenty of beer money. Enjoy the show, I know I will!

Seat intelligence/advice needed.

I've been to the Paramount a couple of times, but every time I was on the balcony. Luckily this time, I will get to be in the orch. Also I'm going with my friends and they've got orch seats too, and they'll let me choose where I want to sit between these two pairs of tickets we have (sorry, really don't mean to rub this into people's faces. it's a complete innocent question). So which one would have a better view: Orch M 10/12 or Orch KK 110/112. Can anyone who's familiar with the venue give me some advice here?

Thanks!

the golden bull (local dive bar) has $1 PBR. only about 2 blocks away, right off broadway. seems like a good meet up spot!

and to everyone worried about seeing from the top, there isn't really a bad seat in the house. this is an old theater that was designed before 200' video screens came around. sure you can see better on the floor, but its not like sitting on the grass at shoreline or anything.

I was in the 3rd row of the lower balcony to the side for David Gilmour and the sound was really good. Very loud but really good. Thin I've found with most shows at theaters with a balcony. You are better off sitting in the balcony for the sound as opposed to sitting under the balcony. If you are in front of the balcony in the orch the sound is fine. but once you get too far under the balcony the sound tends to get a bit muted. I know that's the case at the Warfield.
