It's the compressors at the station.

Radio will never be responsible for someone blowing out their speakers in their car. They have these banks of compressors that seriously compress the sound, so that, when the music gets louder, the actual volume decreases. If there is a sudden volume change, the compressors are a little slow to act sometimes and it sounds all fucked up like someone is playing with the volume.

The beginning reminds me of the breakdown section of "Schism" but the main riff sounds like an Adam Jones riff, but not like any that would fit on Tool's previous albums. I do like it but the bass sounds a little nu-metal. That worries me. Its a little dated. But there again its only twenty odd seconds so cant make a true judgement.

I don't really agree. The riffs and drumming are toolish as you can get, but they are not used to this heavy straight-forward grooves, except in the middle of The grudge or the end of Lateralus. Anyway, this will be an amazing song.

It's sad the radio rip is bad... we hardly hear what Danny is playing in the beginning.

quickest 30 seconds i've experienced in the past month. damn... i really love that intro, how it fades into that alarm clock sound before kicking off.

i also noticed that it kicks off on the secondary beat, instead of the prime beat of the measure. another confirmation that tool can do odd time signatures and still make it sound good.
