Tentative L.A. show dates

A friend of mine who works for AEG HR at Staples Center shot me an email today about tentative dates for TOOL at Staples. Looks like it'll be 3 nights, September 7, 8 and 9th. That's Friday, Saturday and Sunday for the calendarly challenged.

As I know more, I'll post.

Maybe they're taking advantage of the fact that they'll be in LA in the summer/early fall when they could actually do 2-3 shows in a row at Staples? That'd never work from October to April because there'd almost always be at least one Lakers or Clippers game during a 3 night span (plus all the other shit I'm sure goes on at the SC).

So maybe, assuming it's true, they're doing it because it's a rare opportunity to give the LA crowd a bunch of shows at a large venue.

I asked her what the specifics were regarding the dates and how she got the info. She replied, "I have a “tentative” calendar that’s used internally at STAPLES and Tool is all over it in September. Looks like that concert is the only event that is tentatively booked for those dates…."

To the rest of you, I think what's happening is Staples has blocked those dates for a show. It's not certain that it will be 3 nights, it just on the calendar for that weekend.

So I asked if there were any updates.

Via email, "Tons of possible dates.... Looks like if they don't get their first choice of dates, they're tentative for several others. All in September."

So it may not be the weekend I initially thought, tho it seems those are the dates they want the most. If not, then some others, but it's looking more and more like TOOL WILL be playing at Staples in September.

It seems that many larger bands hit l.a. more than one night. I wouldn't be surprised if they did, but it could just be one of the three dates and they haven't thoroughly worked the schedule.
