Death In June

I know that there are alot of different interpretations for this song, but I don't know if too many of them have made the connection to The Teachings of Don Juan. It's pretty well known that Maynard is a fan of Native American culture, and that he has some Castaneda quotes on his wine site. For those of you who have read the book, it might be easier to pick up on the references in the song. Here are a few:
1. Childs ryhme stuck in my head - the peyote songs taught to Castaneda by Don Juan.
2. Came out to watch you play, why are you running away - the very first meeting with Mescalito, when Carlos played with the peyote spirit.
3. Phosphorecent desert buttons - Peyote plants, commonly called buttons, have a certain glow to them during nightfall.
4. Holy crow above me - Don Juan was able to transform himself into a crow.

There are plenty others, but this is my take on it. Seems reasonable.
