It's about time us Aussies got something before you Americans. Usually with films etc we have a delay of a couple of months, especially with the mid-range and indi films.

So in real time we will be getting the CD around 100hrs earlier. I'm sure there will be plenty of us who will be nice enough to review it for you.

By the way, I have been reading this forum for a couple of years and I finally caved in and got an account, bit hard to chat about Tool when they're not putting out new material.

See you around the boards.

What about...

“Convicts were sent to nine of the American settlements. According to one estimate, about 2000 had been sent for many years annually. Dr. Lang, after comparing various estimates, concludes that the number sent might be about 50,000 altogether.”

It'll leak online at the same time for all of us. So the official release date is pretty meaningless.

even though i won't download it

The thrill of waiting for release date, going to buy it, exploring the artwork and listening to it start to finish whenever and wherever you want makes it that much better.
When you can download an experience or feeling like that, let me know.

Everything up to the first listen I like (opening it, checking out the packaging etc.). But at first listen I am always disappointed, it is usually not until the 3rd time through that I really enjoy it. Happened for Lateralus.

Still not going to download it though. My point is that a CD that will be as intricate as this one makes me more nervous than anything, because I know I will be disappointed, at least to some extent, after the first listen. There is just too much that you miss on the first listen. Same thing will happen to many reviewers out there who only get to hear it once or twice. So don't expect the early reviews, in particular the Aussie ones where it will be people who have only listened once or twice, to tell you this is "the best CD ever;" although telling this to a group of people who will buy the CD no matter what kind of reviews it gets is kind of pointless :p

Oh and as for downloading an experience like that - downloading the full HD 1280x720 version of the "Pirates" porno was pretty close. Really good movie, you should check it out. CGI skeletons and everything. (and of course...)

if i get that right, that's 6 am April 28 middle European time? There's those release parties w/ midnight sales taking place in Germany on April 27. So we get it there at latest. Of course there always is the "you know somebody who works in a record store" wildcard, but that applies to every place in the world :D

I understand we get 10,000 Gays before the rest of this backwater planet, with Utopia supposedly kicking off a slew of sales at 12:01am on April 29.

JB HIFI has announced that they may stock shelves on the 28th(?!) though either way, I'm headed for Utopia. Its bound to be bedlam. That said, I dare say I won't be twisting this album's volume to 11 until the next day though. No point harassing my neighbours at midnight and being forced to mute it within 30 seconds of having placed it in my player's tray.

Curious - where are the rest of you headed to make your purchase(s)?

I have a question. Anybody leaking the album as a torrent or something on the 28th/29th?

I'm gonna try JB Hi Fi at Bondi and/or the city at some time on Friday the 28th. If I can't get it anywhere then I will head over to Utopia at midnight...

I was going to suggest that some us could maybe meet up for a beer or two in the hour or so before hand, have a bit of a chat etc., but I have to work (in Pyrmont) until about 11:30pm that night. Then I'll make my way to Utopia to buy the album... any other ideas?

And yes, I may wait until the next morning before blasting it through my stereo!

I'll also be at Utopia. I'll probably get there about half an hour early and just sit out the front 'till they open…
