Blair posted a name of a movie in that eureka post on toolband. “Un Chien Andalou”. I checked er out for the hell of it.

"But don't try to look for any real meaning in the film. It's purposely not there. When Buñuel and Dali met in Paris in the late 1920s and decided to make a film, their express purpose was that "no idea or image that might lend itself to a rational explanation of any kind would be accepted." So we have a series of images and quick-cuts with no relation to each other.

--Even the title (translation : "An Andalusian Dog") is devoid of any meaning in relation to the film. As Buñuel said, "We had to open all doors to the irrational and keep only those images that surprised us, without trying to explain why." --''

Maybe thats what tools doing with 10,000 days..it doesnt have anything to do with the content inside...

not likely, and not very interesting i know..

I've seen the film. It was one of the first pioneering films in the surrealist movement. It's pretty much just a bunch of insane images juxtaposed together with no real surface meaning. For example, one part has a man taking a razor blade/knife to a woman's eyeball, cutting it open, and a colony of ants pours out.

Very surprising that Blair would reference it. It's a film that's generally only very well known in academic circles (and internationally).

academic sources?

is because you're north american (and texan) that you THINK it's an academic film... is very well known, in fact... even in Chile, as far as I know. You "gringos" are soooo self centered, you make me laugh.

In case anybody is interested you can find the full video at www.muchosucko.com. I won't give the full link because that site becomes more and more 'pornish' by the day (you'll see what I mean).

Just click on videos and search for Un Chien Andalou in the search field. Quite the strange the video indeed. Although, I'm pretty sure it doesn't have anything to do with the band or the new album.

Dude, I very, very clearly said "academic" AND "overseas/internationally".
Meaning in America its much more known in academic avenues than in other countries, where it's much more common to find typical citizens who are familiar with it.

I'd rather be a "gringo" than a dumbass whose reading comprehension is non-existent like yourself.

I really love people like you.

He clearly explained what he meant. I studied film in college, we watched it there, and very few people I know who weren't in the same program with me have never even heard of it.

Anyone who is that quick to jump on someone for being American is an asshole. You've got some sort of anti-nationalism going on that's absolutely disgusting. And there's really no need for ethnic slurs. No one called you a spic or anything.

You are obviously retarded because your country has no width and is named after a food which gives me bad farts.

Glad I'm not the only one who noticed his eagerness to hate on Americans for no reason.
