The Official Fiction

OK, so Sony BMG Finland gave a release date today and it's May 3rd (Damn it, thought it was going to be April 28th).

It's listed as TOOL - 10, 000 days

http://www.click2music.fi/finland/viikkarit/uusi/uusi.htm

Also a scandinavian online store cdon.com gave the same date, May 3rd

That pretty much makes it official in my book.

So 10, 000 days it is and 34 days to go.

According to the australian sonybmg website, the album will be released in australia (and likely new zealand as well) on the 29th of April, not May 1st.

Surely tomorrow will hold some significance for the new album, anyone else excited about it?
Last year i got somebody to ring up a friend and tell them i died in a car crash for April Fools day. That wasnt very nice was it?

Windir

Is that so? Well, acording to that link (Music Store) they release the album on the 1st of May. I'm not sure if the record stores get it a couple of days before the releasedate. Could be... I've seen it done before at my local Music Store.
But I like to keep on track as it's been stated. Not in possibilities.

Windir

Ditto. I'll be heading to the local store and talk to the guy (I know him pretty well), that as soon as he gets the album he has to give me a call. I'll be lightning fast and probably end up buying 3/5 copies.

Just my two cents, I also received the email from sanity.com.au to confirm may 1st for Australia. I signed on with them ages ago and put myself on the list for the auto-notification.

My next two cents - May 1st is a monday, which means it'll be available for purchase from any/all record stores open the previous day. So yeah, last day of April.

Monday 1 May 2006
Price: AUD$31.17

Quite pricey for a new album...
There must be a valid reason...

http://www.sanity.com.au/product.asp?intProductID=674763&intArtistID=8845

That means you should be able to pick it up sunday arvo, or maybe a little earlier. I have been able to do that previously with other artists...

New Tool Album Titled '10,000 Days'; Released April 29
With rumours and innuendo scattered across the internet, we can finally reveal that Tool's new album will be called '10,000 Days'. The follow-up to 2001's 'Lateralus' hits Australian stores on Saturday, April 29. Get ready!

Dude, this has already been posted and discussed etc. Also, check out the Sony BMG aussie website, which says the album will actually be released Saturday April 29th. Check the link below:

http://www.sonybmg.com.au/news/details.do?newsId=20030829003095

Also, some people (including myself) have already asked local music stores about the release date - I was told, at Sanity, that the album comes out Monday May 1st but that they (Sanity) have "a special deal" (their words, not mine) where they can sell the new albums on the Saturday before, as in April 29th. So I confirmed with her that if I go in on Saturday April 29th to Sanity, I will easily be able to buy the new album etc.

As for the price, I couldn't care less. In my opinion, great cds are a bargain if you only have to pay $30 for them. Yes, I know, not all cds are great, but when you think about how many times you've listened to Lateralus or Aenima, and how much you've got out of those albums, you really are getting a good deal for a once only payment of $30 (Aus)...

I will happily pay $30 etc. on April 29th - not bad value for 4 or 5 years worth of listening before the next record...

$30 is nothing these days, but for that price you would expect the normal brilliant packaging.

Now you mention it, I do remember discussing it, I thought that might have been on Fourtheye though.

I grabbed that info from the Aussie site.

Yeah, it's from fourtheye.net (Hellboy1975's very good Tool site):

http://www.fourtheye.net/?p=217

"Mattw from Toolnavy has told me that 10,000 Days can be pre-ordered at Sanity.com.au. Prices is $31 which seems a little pricey for an Australian release, but the release date seems to be the 1st of May."

I am pretty stoked that us Aussies can get the new album at about the same time as everyone else (U.S., Europe etc.) because it would suck to have to wait an extra week or so for the album while everyone else around the world is already enjoying it etc.

I'm not gonna rub it in or anything but it is pretty sweet how we actually can get the album BEFORE the U.S. and some parts of Europe. I look forward to reading those first few reviews in the tour section of Coachella having soaked up the album for at least 24 to 48 hours etc. It would have sucked to have read what happened without knowing what the songs sound like...

Counting down to April 29th makes me feel like a little kid counting down to Xmas again...

Yeah, the official release date in Finland might be 3rd of May, but I wouldn´t be too surprised if they started selling it before that official date. It has happened with other major releases before and I think it will happen now too. So, cheer up stin K Z hi t ! You´ll probably get it early.

I am pretty sure that the album will be sold in other countries too before the official release date, but if I have understood correctly, in USA you pretty much have to wait for May 2nd.

Yeah, just be careful though as I received this email from JB Hi Fi after I emailed them and asked about 10,000 Days possibly being released on the 28th of April...

"Hi Matt,

Our release date is indeed on the 28 April 2006 no earlier. This doesn't necessarily mean it will be on sale in our store on that day and for that information you will need to call your nearest store for an accurate day but the album will be released for sale from the supplier on the 28.

I hope this helps.

So there you go. Just give your local JB Hi Fi store a call on Friday April 28th because they may not have it in store at 9am etc. They may get it later in the day or may even get it the next day.

Just a little warning for us enthusiastic Aussie Tool fans who no doubt will be visiting JBs everywhere on April 28th...

God bless Australia!
