i was in the muses (record store) today and decided to ask the release date of "the new tool album" and the woman seems to think they will be getting it in on april 29.. i thought this odd seeing as though it was slotted for a may 2 release in the US. i asked her if the album was definately called 10,000 days and she said "well i know it has a 10 in it" so yeah she knew nothing but she did chck the computer for the release date so....

if anyone has any news on an Australian release date, this would be welcome.

What's the definition of a virgin from Adelaide...?

...Any girl who can out-run her brother.

Nah, Adelaide's cool. So is Tasmania. I have nothing against either state really...

As for the release date, cds come out on Saturdays? April 29th could be good then. At the latest, we should have the new album by Saturday May 6th, which is what Andrew Haug said on Triple J etc.

But I hope April 29th is correct - that will be one sweet weekend!

Couldn’t help but laugh at how quickly this topic spiraled into Tasmanian bashing and beer praising... on the topic of beer, I would add that although Carlton Draft is not the out right best tasting beer if you consider price versus quality (on tap) it comes close to one of the best beers in the world… (Might add although that’s just my opinion I have been all over Europe and the UK and consumed some great beers and I still stick by that view).

By the way, ticket prices for Aussie gigs should be around $85-$90. That's going on what they are charging (in Euros) in Europe/UK at the moment...

That's not a bad increase in price - I saw them in '02 for $75 so charging $85 to $90 now wouldn't surprise me, nor would it stop the tickets selling like hot-cakes... or tickets for that matter.

Bands like Korn, Foo Fighters, Green Day have all charged around $90 (at least at the Sydney Superdome) in the last few years so expect about the same from Tool...

In my opinion, you are getting a bargain at that sort of price!

I think it says a lot about Australians in general when you see a thread like this turn into a debate about whose state's beer is the greatest...

It just reminds me somewhat of The Simpsons (Bart vs Australia) where Marge tries to order coffee and so on...

Tool-wise, check Rage (http://abc.net.au/rage/rage.htm) over the next few weeks because, as someone has already mentioned, Tool should be down to guest-program sometime around their release date etc.

My tip is that they will guest-program Saturday May 6th, after we have had their new stuff for a few days or a week etc.

Plus 'Vicarious' should be on Triple J in a few weeks...

coldplay tickets were 114$....

Metallica January 19th 2004, Brisbane Entertainment Centre: $130

U2 sometime now in November 2006, Telstra Stadium: $200

Rolling Stones, April 11 2006, Telstra Stadium: $400

The Eagles, November 2004, Sydney Superdome: $500

I only went to the Metallica show (awesome live!!) and have a ticket to the now post-poned U2 concert, but you can see why bands make a lot of money from touring...

Don't get me wrong, I've got no problems with paying $100 or more to see a great band play live... especially Tool. I'm planning on going to at least 2 shows if they tour later this year, which apparently has been confirmed etc.

My credit card should get a nice workout... or

Anyone got a spare room for a night in Melbourne? I'm toilet-trained...

I like Tool. where'd you hear that they would do rage?

http://abc.net.au/rage/rage.htm

Where it says "coming up" it lists Tool, which should correspond with Saturday May 6th...

Someone brought it up a few days ago in another Aussie-related thread. I questioned whether they would guest-program at first but someone pointed out that the "coming up" section is for guest-programmers etc. I don't know to be honest. Maynard and Billy Howerdel guest-programmed once before (I think back in 2000) and the band were ever-so-briefly in Australia just recently, so who knows...?

I think that if they did guest-program, you would be seeing some 'interesting' choices, not your average run-of-the-mill playlist etc.

But maybe it's only the premiere of the video for the single/Vicarious?

We will see...

ARMZ
03-29-2006, 05:23 AM
Well fuck me, what a nice little surprise that would be if they were to host.

Just looking at past shows, it doesn't seem like they've hosted before.

Also as you said it lines up with May 6 so it won't be the single, cause that will be out way sooner than that, it looks like they are going to host it.

mad017
03-29-2006, 05:29 AM

Well fuck me, what a nice litte surprise that would be if they were to host.

Yeah I thought that too. Even if it isn't them hosting, Vicarious' premiere should be good. I remember watching Rage one night (April '02) and right at the start where they play new vids, they played a track or two then something odd come on. As it turns out, it was the premiere of 'Parabola' and I just happened to be watching at the time - so I recorded it etc. but was left confused after 10mins of watching a dude and a little alien dude and some crazy ball thing float around...

Anyway, it really surprised me to see 'Tool' and 'Parabola' appear on the screen. I was expecting a whole lot of poppy stuff to be on...

But yes, Tool guest-programming May 6th could be a decent possibility. I'll tape it too!

Yeah, fair enough. But i have seen artists/bands listed there before who have ended up guest-programming (Audioslave for example - they actually played 'Sober' and maybe 'Prison Sex') so we will have to wait...

My money is on new video plus a re-run of all their old vids to coincide with their new album being out etc.

Hmmm.... Guest-programming wouldn't be all that hard really: you just pick a bunch of videos/songs you like (within reason) and then play all of your band's videos at the end. Good promotion for any band...

I hope Tool decide to play like 20min+ clips of Hendrix, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin, just because they can. That would be great!

As for that website above, I didn't even know it existed, so thanks!

And Brisbane is cool. Good city, good weather, good lots of things. And Suncorp Stadium is one of the best football stadiums I have ever been to! State of Origin games at that venue are fuckin unreal!! And, of course, seeing the Brisbane Broncos lose there to any other team is good too...

I just went into JB Hi-Fi and they had posters up with saying that the new album will be out on May 27th.

That can't be right!
I went in to JB Hi-Fi in knox, and they didn't even have a release date. I was hoping to uncover some juicy information, but no.

Sanity still has May 2nd...

By the way, what did the posters look like? Did they have artwork or was it just a simple poster outlining upcoming releases etc?

The posters were black, with the Lateralus logo in white and all it said was new studio album out May 2006 underneath the logo.

They added a pink star to it today saying album out 27th May and that you can now pre order.

Actually Paul hosted Rage around 94-95. He was quite nervous and slightly dim. His music tastes were a bit meh anyway... Still got it on VHS somewhere here.

There was some fucked up shit when he guest programmed.

well they post the playlists a few days before the actual show, so we'll know what to expect before it's on
