"Bust out the kinky guitar tunings and start whacking your Strat with a drumstick, 'cause Sonic Youth's new album is in the can and itchin' for release. According to the band's website, the previously reported Blondie/Christian-flavored title Do You Believe in Rapture? has been relegated to a song name, and the new album has been retagged Rather Ripped.
While it's a toss-up if the title is an ode to washboard abs or a comment on newsman Dan Rather's booting from CBS, the album is set to drop on June 13. (Alas, the 6/6/06 release date hinted at by Thurston Moore in his last Pitchfork interview is not to be.)"
Just a reminder that bands do have the ability to spontaneously change album titles, as well as drop fake release dates and information during interviews.
