One of the guys from Australian Radio Station Triple J went to a preview listening of 10,000 Days and gave some of his thoughts on the new album.

It is recorded and in mp3 format which you can get here:

http://10000days.toolcollector.net/mp3/australian_radio_review.mp3

I can't wait, the anticipation is killing me.

Great (yet short) review. I guess the guy was basically speechless. Of course it takes more than 1 listen to fully grasp any album.

yeah whats up with that? I made a few posts in the spoilerific leaked cover art thread and don't see how this could represent a first? it' is fine with me tho.

Yea this thread is so 10,000 days ago....

Just to add to it though, Robbie Buck who hosts the afternoon program, mon-fri, 2-5:30pm, scored an interview with Maynard and one other but he's not allowed to air it until May, which would seem a bit pointless at this time due to the record itself coming out in May.

If you made a post on a thread that was moved to the lies section (some of the fake cover art) it is subtracted from your post count.

Considering he can't even do Ticks and Leeches live I doubt it.

I've never seen Tool live, but I have heard that Maynard messes up quite often. Hitting notes out of key and that sort of thing. Can anyone elaborate on this?

I've seen them four times -- not exactly a world record but not too shabby -- since 1997. He's always sounded great to me, though I have seen that video clip where his voice cracks during Parabola. In my personal experience, he sounds great and nails his vocals. He uses a vocal effect (which sounds better than the whisper-singing, I think) sometimes for "Lateralus," and the lucky few who have seen them do "Ticks" have said he does the same. All in all, I've always thought the whole band was amazing live, and I was unaware of any rumors that Maynard made a lot of mistakes.

the reviewer is a f'ing idiot. even non-tool fans have heard tool music before. everyone knows 46 and 2 , stinkfist, etc. etc.

this guy reviews music for a living? or is part of the music industry?

this is whats wrong with the industry today ; you show up at a listening party, and thats the last thing you have on your mind....listening to the music. Instead you want to network to get your ass to the top of the food chain

and then they bitch that no one is buying CDs

funny world we live in. just plain funny. like a pink bunny. on a day thats sunny. wipe my nose thats runny. i like my toast with jam and HONEY

sorry im drunk

oh sorry, let me get back to the topic...

since i interned at Universal Music Group about a year ago, I'm pretty sure I have a better insight to the music industry. There are listening parties, the soundscans to look over...all in all....tool is just another band on their roster. May will come and May will go, someone in marketing at the record company will look like a demigod because of a built-in-audience. In reality this person was prolly sweating over the new Big Boi release instead.

The people in the industry get people like this reviewer to go....but these aren't true fans that go, or even music fans. Just networkers.

People in the music industry need to get back to the basic roots of the business....music.
