But the fact that it has butterflies on it will probably make most people think its fake. true, but then again people's views of "quality" are also subject to interpretation- for example, the Tool albums i consider to have "Quality" covers are Lateralus, and Opiate (to a lesser extent Salival also, but i haven't really seen much of it). the other two (Undertow and Aenima) while have covers Different to what you might find in a shop, in my eyes aren't great at all. Maybe the Band members like something, and choose it as their cover? who are a few fans on a messageboard to say anything?

(and before you say they are the fans and therefore will impact their profit/popularity, it really won't happen. you and i both know that everyone here will get the new album regardless of what they say about the cover- by legal or otherwise means.)

Undertow, Aenima, and Lateralus have all had very simple album covers (Lateralus is in reference to the black slip cover) with Aenima and Undertow having one major focus (the spider thing, and the smokebox).

I could be wrong, and I probably am, but I think the major focus of Tool's artwork is not to be "unique" or push the envelope on new and exciting trends, but to simply have a piece of art that describes what the album is about. I think in a way each of the album covers has had some correlation to the album's message.

True, we still don't know what 10,000 Days is about (if that's the title), so it could be anything. I just think the fake album art has been too elaborate for a single idea of 10,000 Days.
