For the record that song has nothing to do with Heroin (see the FAQ). I'm sure most people know that "H" stands for "half full."

Because people associate music like Tool with drugs. And Heroin is the obvious link. I like the theory that its about Maynards son alot better. That its about Maynards struggle with giving up his former life to begin a new life as a parent.

Yeah, "H" does not stand for heroin. Some say it stands for "half full" but this is only a THEORY, NOT A FACT. The fact is, only Tool knows what it stands for. Alot of Tool lyrics are drug related, but heroin is definitley not one of the drugs.

Loveboat Cpt. nailed it. H. is about an unborn child and a snake (lifestyle?) that threatens the child's well-being. The snake needs to die. But, it's alright... he don't mind. It's a willing sacrifice.
I find it hard to believe that Heroin would inspire such devo tion.

I think its about those old warner brothers cartoons!
angel on one shoulder, devil on the other
only most times they're not angels but friends, giving you advice, but not knowing what is best for you.
this song is called H.

I don't think H is about heroin (all by itself atleast). I don't think that this song has one set meaning, i think it is a very open to interpretation song and could mean a lot of things. Also there is another song on this same album about overcoming an addiction, actually the first track on the album.
