I found this video of Danny getting buck during his solo on 46&2, the framerate isn't the greatest, its still pretty killer though. Enjoy.

I wish there were some good quality videos of DC on the net other than the last 2 minutes of Lateralus one on that shitty gold drum kit.

It's form the drum clinic part of DC's website, there's a quicktime video of it there. Yes, very good stuff. I love playing the bassline that goes along with it. Figuring out the timing and how it all syncs up was one of the most challenging and rewarding things I've done.

IIRC there is also a video of the ending of parabola, and part of schism.

cool videos, but playing quads is far different than playing a full set. I'm not taking anything away from the guy, but it's kidna like comparing apples and bananas.

are you kidding me? how long have you played 2 years? that song is very easy to play. .. well maybe not for a tool player, but still.

he really is fucking amazing...

some of you claim its "easy" to play, but shit man, u can see he pours his heart and soul into it, plus he's brutally fast...

oh yea, that and the fact that giant spirals are spinning around the drumsets and floor has to make it alot harder (and more fun i'd imagine) to play...

abrack29
02-25-2006, 07:40 PM
Trust me, "giant spirals" spinning around your set should not affect (effect? whatever) how well you play.

from what ive seen, which is not a lot, but this guy is the best ive seen, at least technique. http://www.drummerworld.com/drummers/JOJO_Mayer.html not the same style but for an improv drummer this guy is amazing. watch the older tutorials and the moeller technique videos if you watch anything from this guy. but for time signatures danny carey has to be one of the best around, you just cant find that stuff in modern music.

This drum break is freaking easy, I learned it in an hour. THe stuff that leads up to it is far more difficult, 'specially with the hat stuff.

100% right

I find the solo pretty easy, too but some of the hihat patterns in the parts before the solo are nasty.

Bill Bachman isn't so hot man. Sean vega and Tim jackson could both kick his ass.
I've partied with Tim a few times, he's a great guy aswell as an incredible drummer. Danny could most likely also take Bill, yeah he can play tenors but he's no Danny Carrey.

This drum solo is pretty easy (except for the sextuplets in the beginning), but it still sounds awesome, and it fits in perfectly with the song. The point of a drum solo in a song isn't to be the most complicated, mind-blowing thing you've ever heard. It's just to fit in with the song and make it more interesting.

Right on man...Danny has the ability to make the drums sing for the song which is the way it should be...a finely tuned masterpiece. I always say DC has the best way of building a song to a great finale. No better example than 46 & 2. Simply brilliant!!

I wish the drummerworld site had video on him doing the solo for 46 & 2. Dan Carey has a drum clinic video on his site of him doing the solo, but the quality isn't the best.

TONY ROYSTER JR. OWNS ALL

Tony Royster is great, but can't hit half as hard as DC. Plus doesn't have the ear for hard rock music. He's a damn good solo drummer though.
