Album Art Possibility (stereoscopic imagery)

If you look at Adam's myspace pictures he's got a couple that have to with stereoscopic imaging, one of which is an example with a picture of his wife. If you do as the picture instructs and look at it from 2-3 feet away while crossing your eyes, not only are their three of her, but focusing and unfocusing your eyes while they're crossed will get her to move around, in a fluttery sort of way. What I wonder is if the new album art will involve stereoscopic imagery...

You guys don't get it, you have to look at the picture while crossing your eyes and it takes a little practice but if you succeed to bring the two pics together in the centre of your vision, you get a 3d image.

The scene is generated by placing pairs of patterns on a flat two-dimensional image in such a way to fool the brain into seeing depth. The depth (‘d’) is controlled by varying the width (‘w’) between the matching patterns in the image."

Something that I've noticed is how the chick isn't 3d, she's flat. There is no depth to her, but there is depth to everything else. Normally with stereoscopic imaging, everything has depth.

yeah, notice how the album art thats on toolband is slighty off center....maybe another one appears next to it in the book and you can get a 3d image from it......i bet thats what will happen

so adam has been playing around with stereoscopic images, where 2 IMAGES become 1. i'm sure part of the album art will involve stereoscopic images.

however, this probably relates to tool's overall idea. in blair's recent post he says
"It seems that a few of you (those who have commented on the artwork) are also anticipating ‘the bigger picture’ – that which you’ve become accustomed to over the years when it comes to Tool’s art direction. Well, to you, I will only say that you will not be disappointed… and that the key is right there before your very eyes."

look at the album mini picture: 2 faces becoming 1, much like a stereoscopic image, and this ties in with their overall theme which they have been developing throughout the years. (i.e. unity, higher consciousness, etc.)

Since some people have argued that Lateralus and Aenima deal with two differant perspectives of the same theme. They represent two separate stereoscopic images and 10000 days will be the unified extrademensional perspective on it.

Its kinda one of thoes things that is nely impossible to explain, if you try too hard you wont get it. Just cross your eyes so that both images line up and then hold them there untill your eyes adjust and focus to the center image. There is a certain skill behind unfocusing your eyes which can only be understood by figuring it out yourself through practice.
