Hey, here's another irrelevant thread...

Which song do you think Tool will open up with on the DVD, or, which song would you like to see them open up with?

It might not mean shit to anyone, I mean we get to see it all in the end anyway but just say for a friend or stranger, depending on your tastes, who hasn't seen Tool or even heard their songs, what song would you like to come up first after the cool(?) menu has loaded and there's nothing left to do but to press play?

Probably the most logical song to choose but I would love to see Third Eye up first.

I dont think they ever played that on the Lateralus tour.

I dont think they ever played that on the Lateralus tour.

edit// here, which would put it directly into the DVD because of the last 6 shows which were recorded, as Ktuluvic below me has mentioned....

I dont think they ever played that on the Lateralus tour.

They played it at the Reno, NV show that was second to last of the tour when they were filming. I've seen them 4 times and was lucky enough to see them play Third Eye 2 of those times, both in Reno. Pretty much the only good thing I can say about that town. They also did the live hidden version of Faaip De Oiad which I missed, I really hope that shows up on the DVD.

They played it at at least one of the shows I went to, either Indy or Cincy. I don't remember which and am too lazy to look at the setlists from the reviews.

Third Eye would be late in the set.
They generally played a "warm-up" song before unleashing The Grudge.
I'd say they'll probably open the DVD with Sober.

It may be a good topic for the February newsletter.

If I learned anything during the wait for the new album is that with Tool, it's ALWAYS later rather than sooner so I wouldn't expect to hear anything about this DVD till the end of the year.

Nah, I don't think it will be that long before they release it. My bet is that it will come out shortly after the album. You make a good point though, with Tool it is later rather than sooner, so you may be right. I hope not

After looking at the setlists for the last 6 shows:

Sober: 67%
Cold & Ugly: 33%
The Grudge: 0%

They opened with Sober when I saw them in Hamilton (August 25, 2002 I believe.)

I would imagine it'll also open the DVD, considering it's their most popular single.

Why would anyone wanna see Faaip De Oiad? its a shitty recording with noise, personally i would like them to donate those precious minutes to something else more in the "play music"-genre. Same goes for Die eier von satan, Ions etc...

Saw the 4 times during Lateralus tour (2001 & 2002)(as stated above).

4 times they opened with the Grudge 4 times ending with Lateralus.

That's nice, but they didn't record any of those shows.

I know it wasn't in Indy, cause I was there and I didn't see 3rd eye.
In Memphis they did a teaser thing, got my hopes up.
But I saw them do 3rd eye on the Aenima tour in Knoxville.

And newer.

Because it was a live hidden track, and it'd be funny to see tool playing to a near empty arena. I doubt space is really much of an issue on the dvd, since the whole set was at most 3 - 3.5 hours, and we won't be getting things like commentary tracks or anything like that. If they do multiple camera angles, then it might be an issue. Either way, I want that song on the dvd.

That's nice, but they didn't record any of those shows.

But they were recording the Reno, NV show where they played it. I'm pretty sure that's the only show they played it at while they were recording. So if it shows up on the dvd, you'll see maynard painted black with orange glowing dots all over him.

so possible Live DVD songs: Sober, The Grudge, (-) Ions, Stinkfist, H., Schism, Parabol, Parabola, Third Eye, Disposition, Reflection, Triad, Lateralus, Eon Blue Apocalypse, The Patient, Forty Six & 2, Opiate, Ænema, Cold & Ugly & Faaip De Oiad

no restructured Pushit....but still one hell of a cool list, so when is this thing coming out??
this is my post from a thread like a month ago, i looked at the setlists from the last 6 shows that were filmed

they will probably use Sober

i heard the first song would sound like this:

guitar, guitar, guitar, drums, drums, drums, vocals, some more drums, bass playing in the background, guitar guitar, drums really loud then everything stops and you hear more vocals followed by bass and drums again.

check the set list in the reviews of the show. It was the Fall '02 show at Conseco. Not the '01 show at Verizon.

Eulogy will not be on there

The Patient is also a possibility.... they added that one to the setlist for a couple of the last 6 shows after not playing it for the second fall tour , making it a strong likelihood that thats why.

A "warm up"song? The Grudge was first up at almost all of the shows I went to (red rocks, denver, boulder, albuq, phoenix etc.) There were a few variations at some places, but I can't remember where.
