i think its a jam/cover...merkaba bits and pieces can be heard on bootlegs and live recordings mainly before sober starts

It's a ZAVM cover.
You mean zaum?

You mean zaum?I meant ZAVM.
Visit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZAUM and notice the spelling on the demo cassette. Ancient languages lacked the letter "U (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U)" and instead used "V (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V)".

I may have a copy of the ZAVM demos somewhere. I'll look for them when I get home.

It's a ZAVM cover.
H21. Is Tool's "Merkaba" the same as the song "Merkaba" by Zaum?
No; though Danny was playing drums for the other band, the two "Merkabas" are not the same song; merely named for the same thing.
Heh. Caught you.

I found the demo. I haven't listened to it in forever, so Merkaba sounds a bit different than I remember. I was incorrect in that it's not a cover, per se, but I think it heavily influenced the Merkaba we all know and love. :)
I'll upload them sometime today.

one of the most underrated songs in the Tool catalouge
I love when they play Merkaba/Sober live. One of my favorite live experiences
