This song has a direct meaning. Does anyone never had that feeling that he/she wanted to "flush away" everything around. Didn't you ever think that everything surrounding you is just a mirage? Wasn't you ever fed up with all that bullshit, people pretending to be your friends and then proving they're two-faced? I've had this feeling... LA is used as a metaphor of everything I've mentioned. It's also a "suggestion to keep us all occupied" until we can live for our own, not dependent of anything - "...fret for your hairpiece, (...) contract, (...) car..." - is ironical way to blame our addictions. We just have to "learn to swim".
