think the dvd's suck? terrible commentary (jello has nothing worth listening to in his period) and the remixes are terrible. I wasn't even sure what I was listening to.

I'm pretty dissapointed and I can't be the only one. I wanted to just make a general thread on both but there are two forums so I just picked one.

I was kinda disappointed... but I should've expected the commentary to be fake... but it did make me laugh. Its not like they're gonna come out and tell us what it all means... but they did make a buck or two from this. Although I did like the parabol remix... i hope the new album kinda sounds like that.

I will grow to enjoy the Lustmord remix, the menu's aren't very fun, especially the schism one which i find extremely boring. The guy from the Jesus Lizard is a horrible commentator, atleasy Jello is funny. I am happy with the Parabola one, not to much the schism one.

I haven't heard Parabola remix yet, but I love the Schism remix too, Chris.
Lustmord is amazing.

And I think Jello's commentary is priceless, but the other guy was just a little too random.

I know you really like everything they've done, but I don't like the songs. Listening to a bad song on good speakers won't make much of a difference to me. I was just expecting more: relevant commentary, interesting remixes, maybe a bonus of some sort.

Though I'll give it another chance when I can toss it into my computer at home and not on the TV.

I like the Schism remix more than the Parabola remix.

Commentaries made me laugh...Good quality videos.

Why does everything have to mean something today? Can't it just be about what you feel? I don't think that any two people could possibly agree as to a particular meaning of any of their songs... it meant to be whatever...

Agreed, however it is natural for us to search meaning in evrything. On the other hand it ruly does not matter whether or not we like the remixes, it's what TOOL thinks is what matters, maybe not to us, but they made the remixes(lustmord did technically but TOOL was involved) and they like what they did that is what they wanted to put out and that is that. I think we all need to learn how to seperate liking a song from truly appreciating it, wehter or not it is as good as the original or not.

Yes....that's pretty much where I was trying to go. without so many words. My personal belief is to not over-analyze the intentions or mixed messages between the lines... it gets too damn frustrating. Just merely enjoy life, instead of making it more complicated. There are plenty of things within my own realm that I feel that I need to tackle before I can figure out what everyone else means or implies. However, it is a basic pyschological need for people to search for the meaning anything in general. I don't sneer upon anyone who does, I just find the search for meaning in anything unfullfilling, and my questions always remain unanswered..

Learning to seperate... now that is truly a test of ones' mental constitution...

I just bought the Schism dvd today. Pretty cool, but the David Yow comments tripped me out. I thought some of it was funny but the rest just made me think why did they add this?
I didn't get what the third spiral does tho... is that the remix or do I have to figure something else out?
