Hello, everybody. I am Rah, and I'm (obviously) new to this site, and--

I'm actually going to skip the introduction, because nobody cares about that. I hope this hasn't been mentioned before. I believe that this song is not about evolving, but more about going back to our most primitive state. For example, when Maynard sings:

1. "My Shadow..."

Most of us know about Jung's theory about the shadow being the animal part of us. I think this is quite clear.

2. "Listen to my muscle memory..."

We used to walk in four legs. I think Maynard implies that the muscles still remember this, even after all the changes we've passed through.

3. "See my shadow changing, stretching up and over me..."
The shadow, the animal, is becoming larger and stronger than the human. This should be the mid-process of regression.

4."Forty six and two are just ahead of me..."
I'm not sure about this, but I heard that primates had these amount of chromosomes.

Well, this is just a thought. What do you think about it?

Bravo!! ::applaudience:: Good to see someone with a real means of interpretation! Just so u know...most of the people on here are retarted metalheads with a borderline Beavis & Butthead complex.
