I think this song is a 1st person dialog of the earth talking about the sun. The earth and the sun are living things just as we are - if you consider they're animated elemental things that reside in this galaxy, which resides in this infinitely large universe. Like the living critter on earth, they're born, they're alive, and they'll die.

"I have come curiously close to the end, though
Beneath my self indulgent pitiful hole. defeated i
Concede and move closer. I may find comfort here
I may find peace within the emptiness. how pitiful."

The earth and any planet depend on the star they orbit. They find their place in the solar system, and just go about spinning around it - depressing and pitiful.

"And in my darkest moment, fetal and weeping.
The moon tells me a secret. my confidant.
As full and bright as I am, this light is not my own
A million light reflections pass over me
It’s source is bright and endless.
She resuscitates the hopeless
Without her we are lifeless satellites drifting."

Once a star reaches the end of it's life, it burns and the planets revert to unanimated 'dust particles' in the vast emptyness of the galaxy. (These are very simplistic explanations for the purpose of brevity - so please don't nitpick my science explanations.)

"And as I pull my head out
I am without one doubt
Don’t want to be down here
Feeding my narcissism i
Must crucify the ego
Before it’s far too late
I pray the light lifts me out"

The earth in this scenario is capable and guitly of the nasty emotions and behaviors that cloud our own lives. And it shares with us a moment of clarity - as if the earth is talking to the critters that cohabitate with it.

"So crucify the ego
Before it’s far too late
To leave behind this place so
Negative and blind and cynical

And we will come to find
That we are all one mind
Capable of all that’s
Imagine the unconceivable

Just let the light touch you
And let the words spill thorough
Just let them pass right through,
Bringing out our hope and reason."

We're all one mind, not just humans, but the whole giagantic infinite fucking universe.

Maybe it's from Saturn's point of view.
