First of all I think the other thread explains it well and I just wanted to throw this idea around for the hell of it. Perhaps in the song is talking about an actaul woman how maybe when you are in love she brings out the best of us "a million light reflections pass over me its source is bright and endless" and that she gives us hope and without her we would be nothing "Without her, we are lifeless satellites drifting". Perhaps I am terribly wrong but i believe it sorta fits like and without this very special lady we will all just "pine away".
