Anyone want to bet sigs that the album will be out this year? I'm betting 2006, any takers?

Place any bets here regarding if the album will suck, be 2 discs, when it will come out, etc.

I'm guessing first quarter 2006. One disc, or Dual disc. Will rock and be better than Lateralus.

I bet it won't come out in vinyl for at least a couple of years.

What would EVER make you think that?

im not sure if it will be out this year or early next, i think we should know soon, but im about 50/50.
im also about 50/50 on if its 2 discs or not, defninetly hoping it will be.
and im pretty damn confident that this album will rule more than the previous ones.

No way it comes out in 2006.

It may be a possibility at this point to say 2006, but it is highly unlikely. There has already been an enormous amount put into this album. They are working DAILY right now to finish it. No way it comes out in 2006.

My estimation brings the release sometime around the end of October. I've heard October 25th and that sounds reasonable. Worst case, the post-production takes longer than expected and it comes out in November.

I don't think it will be a double disc. It is a possibilty, but I think it will be a single disc with about 13 - 15 songs on it. Of course, not all of those "songs" will be real songs. We can safely expect more transitinoal music in between songs.

There is a possiblity that the new album comes out with the Lateralus TOUR Live DVD. They may be bundled together for those who wish to buy them that way. I would say that is a 50/50 possibility.

As far as touring, I would expect to start seeing California shows pop up before the end of the year shortly before and after the album comes out. The first major U.S. tour will be through the winter of 2006.

it will released between late november and early January, one disc, less proggy then lateralus, but more experimental.

Agreed. But i think it'll be as progressive as Lateralus. And doubledisc is possible.
Hope it will not be too experimental and not too heavy. But Maynard and boys knows what they're doing.

I think they are going to take a very wrong turn. I'm a huge fan of what Tool has released thus far, but I believe their influences will kill their great style they have going for them. I'm afraid the new album will be too techno and stupid like faggy NIN, or just too heavy like Meshuggah...I don't have high hopes for the new album because I am naturally very pessimistic. Then again, I said the same thing before Lateralus was released, and then the new album kicked my ass with greatness.

Ever since Lateralus came out, I've been thinking that Tool is going to die, and that Aenima was their prime. I love the music and lyrics of Lateralus, but I hate the direction that I think it is going to turn Tool to.

On the contrary and considering what Tool said about this album being heavier, I believe that Maynard simply cannot ever achieve heavy metal vocals, and this is great because I hate heavy metal vocals. Let's put it this way...If every song on the new album sounds like Ticks and Leeches, I will be content. If every song on the new album leans more towards sounding like Reflection, I will be sad...And once again, I am not saying Reflection was a bad song. The song was great where it was, but more like it would kill the idea. I am very scared to hear what Tool does, but I also put all of my faith into their new material. Hmm.

I hope there will be much music like Triad and Reflection.. something warm.
There's no need to be scared if they only will perfect it in to a perfection (not good tracks.. AWESOME tracks.).
I think heavy music isn't wise.. and heavy means anger usually.. why Tool would need to be angry (whole album)? And i don't think that Maynard likes heavy music so much.. APC is even (much) less heavier than Tool.
Sorry i can't write properly cuz my english suks.

placidium

Heavy doesn't necessarily mean anger. It has a tendancy to be agry, but I've written plenty of heavy bits that aren't angry at all. Funny, or even warm like Reflection.

And because the music is heavy doesn't mean that Maynard will sing a hoarse monotone all the time, or at all.

It'll be great.

Who wants to be sigs that it'll be great?

I agree that heavy doesn't mean angry. The heavy parts create the most movement. They are the most progressive.

If you don't agree, take some psilocybin mushrooms, get comfortable, close your eyes and listen to Tool. The hard parts of the songs will bend and mold the parts of you that are the most guarded. The soft parts of the songs will allow you to accept the new changes.

If that sounds scary or over-your-head, DO NOT take the mushrooms. Just continue listening to Tool and think whatever makes you happiest.
