Yeah, Ill agree that its about a tragedy but I've always believed this song was about someone who was in the hospital dying or perhaps in a coma. At the very beginning of the song, is a respirator like sound that clearly signifies the atmosphere.

Also, if I recall the whole parabola theory correctly, then The Patient and Disposition are connected. I take it that The Patient is about the dying person, from their view and Disposition is the person in the room praying that they'll be okay and wake up.

Mention something, mention anything

Watch the weather change as the situation takes a miraculous turn and the person wakes up.

That could also tie in with the song maynard sung with a perfect circle, sleeping beauty.
