i'm willing to bet the original title of this 20 minute opus was in fact "triad," being that they are three parts. i'm glad they weren't put as a whole on the album, for the fact that they don't flow together as smoothly as they should. "disposition" and "reflection" are connected by a bouncing-ball type sound, while "reflection" and "triad" are connected by, well, nothing. "triad" just slowly fades in. in my opinion, however, these three tracks make the album perfect. i see the songs as a dying part of yourself ("disposition"), reflecting upon what you've become ("reflection"), and going from there ("triad"). most likely wrong on maynard's standards, but whatever.

Reflection and Triad crossfade, it's not just Triad fading in; it's Reflection fading out below it. Lateralus is really a headphone album, and this is proof of it.

Who cares about specifics though, eh?

nice to see a fellow canadian here...for the record, triad crossfades with reflection by way of background noise..
