Well as sick as I have gotten recently about everyone's blatant guesses as to a release date, I decided to ring a couple of music stores myself. Just got off the phone actually.

One store told me they have no listing for anything new from tool and their release dates go as far forward as oct 10.

I got the same response from another story, though their release date listings only went until the end of sept.

Keep in touch with your stores folks, there's no reason why anyone on this board shouldn't be buying the new album the day it comes out.

Don't you guys think that if the release date was really as close as next month, then you'd be able to ring your friendly local record stores (as I have done) and they should be able to tell you?

Record stores have lists at least a couple of months in advance (as I found out yesterday when I rang a couple) and they have no reason to lie to us - they want to sell albums, they want to make money! What? do you think maynard rang each individual record store world wide and said "but shhhh .. don't tell anyone"?

Ring your fucking stores, then post in here what they tell you. At least that's the sort of rumour that MAY have some truth to it, unlike all the bullshit websites and photoshopped pics that people are posting now.

It's gonna get to the point where the real date is finally released and nobody's going to believe it because of all of the times you've all cried wolf so far.

are you retarded, it's on the fucking website of HMV! The HMV in my town said it was coming out the 13th, and considering that albums are released in different countries on different days sometimes suggests that the week of September 13th is most likely when the album will come out.

So despite the phone calls I've made so far to prove that there's no known release date (at least here in Australia), I thought I'd show you guys a copy of the email i just received back from a music store aswell. Sanity is a massive chain here in Australia, and though they don't perhaps have the range of music in stock that's most appealing to tool fans, they've never let me down so far over all the years with getting shit ordered in, and release date knowledge .. point being, they're very very reliable.
