i believe what the song is telling everyone is to communicate. the idea of opening yourself up and see the difference it makes when people are truly communicating and if we do that, we will certainly change the ways we are with people.
once again, maynard have conveyed the importance of communication(schism,third eye), and i believe that is the only way people get along with each other, to b able to understand others and be understood, no lies, no games being played, what a wonderful feeling that is.

the feeling of really be understand is a rare feeling...
most people dont understand others like the people want...
there are always some things... feelings... that are really hard to describe... and when you try... you use the wrong words..
the others think they understand you... but they really dont...

Although i think youve made a good point about that connection with others...
about talking with others... and (TRY) to understand them...
