Yea I hope it dosn't take that long, my guess is as good as yours for now, but when it does hit the shelves I'm sure it will sell above 700,000 copies in it's first week. But if it is a dvd/cd package the price will go up and might not sell as many as 300,000 in it's first week but then again Lateralus may have converted a few extra heads. It's all speculation.

If you go to the toolband.com website and read the latest newsletter, the guy makes MANY references. Most of which are in reference to "miss JULY". Later on he specifically states that there are implicit messages in the text. Also, he talks about making his vote for this "miss july" for playmate of the YEAR. He also makes a big deal about the page number for the miss july centerfold.... page 163 (1+6+3=10, "saturn ascends, take 1 or 10").

After putting 2 and 2 together, i think the expected release date of this epic new album will be July 10!!! (there are also many references to his eating of some white spiders.... if you figure that one out please let me in!!)

You may be right about them not having a say, they might have to meet a deadline, but who sets the deadlines? they, or the record company?
I think artists like deadlines, when the pressure is on some people can write up a quick piece of music and it turns out that it's the best song they have ever created, or it gets canned and resurfaces in bootlegs and fillers.

He's right, you know. That's about as realistic as you can get. In all respects, the album, just like all the others, will probably get pushed back, either due to legalities or recording problems or shit, maybe you could blame it on the fucking groundhog.

Anyway, I think they've decided to do more with the DVD than just live concert footage. As mentioned in another thread, Tool showed an interest in making a full movie like Pink Floyd's The Wall. Maybe they finally decided to go through with this and they're going to release it with the new album. I obviously have no proof other than the band's stated interest, but that would be awesome. I love Tool's visuals. The videos bring a whole new dimension to the songs.

But maybe I'm just dreaming. We'll all know eventually.

There's three things we can be sure of right now: There is a DVD, there is a new album, and those two won't be released together.
Releasing both of them together makes absolutely no business sense whatsoever. Sure, current Tool fans would buy a more expensive package of the two, but people who would be potentially buying their first Tool album would be discouraged if the package costs, say, $25 to $30 dollars. Plus, in the long run, they could end up making a higher profit per release if they were sold separately, depending on how much they plan on selling each release for.
I would be very surprised if they decided to release the two together...but hey anything is possible.

Yes. Danny has been talkin about in interviews as well, so it does exist. If they got Alex Grey to do the artwork, they are (or were) obviously serious about releasing it. I don't think they would waste either Alex's or their own time, not to mention money, on a DVD that was just gonna be shelved. I think it'll come out eventually. Maybe about 6 months before the new album, like Salival did. Also, i don't think Blair would keep mentioning it in his "updates" if they weren't still planning to release it. He's not being crytic just to be mean to the fans, he just likes to fuck with us.

Actually I know about this. But since I found out somewhere that youre a swede, then what do you think? Will we get the album on same day as the friends overseas or even a couple of days sooner. I think this has been a tradition in Europe. Im not absolutely certain of how it usually happens since I havent been buying records on their release date.

Btw. do you happen to know any jokes about Finns? Are there any?

It's possible that we get the album earlier, but usually we get them later. Albums usually come out on mondays here if i'm not mistaken.

And no, most of our jokes are directed towards the norwegians, but the occasional jokes about finns being depressed and carrying knives come up now and then.
