I went to see Tool in Oct. of 2001 and as most may know Maynard likes to strip down to his speedos gradually during the show. I remember seeing a badass scorpion from the top view on his back, the tail being at the top and the pincers at his waist. I thought it was pretty badass, but what can anyone tell me about it, or is it just something he just has?

the tatoo you see gracing maynard's back isn't acually a scorpion its a spine that is inverted, upside down. Why its upside down and what he is trying to say will be a mystery to us all for many moons...

the scorpion faces downward so that it matches the shape of maynard's spinal base and pelvic bone.

that's pretty damn clever - maynard's said before that's of a drawing he did, so it shows his time at kendall art college wasn't just spent flirting with gillian anderson :P

I'm not doubting you 7chakras. But how can you tell that it's a scorpion? Did you read it somewhere or is there a web picture that shows the entire tattoo?
