Can anyone give me some kind of reason on why Maynard continuously talks about water on this album, defently an interesting topic but i cant seem to make a connection on why everything comes back to water on Undertow

It could very well that water=tears/crying. As in letting out all your pains and displeasures. Then, this is my thoughts.

Maybe Maynard got pregnant and his water broke while writing the album.

cough... yeah, i think undertolerance is right: they became interested in lachrymology during this album, even if it never was actually about the lachrymology.

To me it is a metaphor: that dark river of unknown shit that flows deep beneath your waking mind. This is where all the problems and demons and weird squid-fish that fuck with your head live. Maynard's a fisherman, dragging these things up and out to confront them and destroy them with that fish-hammer some call his voice, and all for the good of us farmer folk. What a saint, that guy.
