Ithink that maybe Schism is about 2 people in a relationship
in which there has been a breakdown in communication.
and there is trouble and strife until they try communication again.
I think some TOOL songs like this one arent all cryptic maybe what was said is actually what was meant?

Hmm. Yeah I see what you mean but then again maybe Maynard just decided it was a good word play because there is a split in the relationship. And Schism is such a styley word to use.
Maybe I'm being too simplistic about it.
I dunno.

I think I agree with the relationship interpretation. It's not even taking it THAT literally, but that's what it sounds like to me, although the word Schism usually refers to a religious seperation. I like to think it's a love song though.....rather, a heartbreak song.
